It's obviously Lawwell. We sign the same type of dross regardless of who is managing the club, and every manager bar Mowbray has walked - from O'Neill to Deila.

Congerton for one, the development teams and Peter Lawwell himself. Which will be Arzani. Due to his boy being a big part of City’s development teams.

Well if that is the case I can only say what a spineless barsteward BR is. I mean this is a guy with a good reputation, alledgidly, he managed a good Swansea side, a cracking Liverpool side. Was wanted by Arsenal alledgidly, now Leicster. Has houses all over the land, is not short of a few Bob. I mean he doesn't need to worry where his next pint is coming from, yet he lets PL a man who would be hounded from Celtic Park by the fans if it came to light that some of this conjecture was true signing players over his head and not his 1st choice targets?

If it was me I would walk and blow the lid on the lot of them. Move to my house in the med. Live off my big bank balance and let the board face the people who really matter in all of this deal with the board...... The fans

Unless he's saving it will for his next book (which is *) BR should come out now and tell all. Or could it be the board HAVE done all he asked apart from McGinn. Which wouldn't leave him in a good light now would it.

No, my opinion still stands, both parties to blame. But the buck stops at BR for me.

If Congerton is one, surely BR knows what he's doing as he brought him in?
Same with the development team. Surely BaRchas the final say?
If PL, then BR should come out publicly and state this.

Aw, I doubt anyone can force a player on Brendan. We don’t even want to spend money on guys he actively wants and will play, never mind soending money on guys who he’ll never look at it.

Rodgers is a world class coach and has got players to move up a couple levels but bar Dembele Sinclair and Ntcham all his signings have been absolute garbage. The fact we have Johnny hayes and Hendry even on our pay roll is sickening.

Dembele was already in negotiations before BR.

I’m pretty confident Ntcham is part of the Lawwell Man City connection.

Sinclair is * now. Good at the time though, I’ll give him that.

You could argue they might not have signed without BR though...

    Hardly inspiring!

Could not agree more with the quote about gap in abilities. I've said this to friends and family that our attacking players: Rogic, McGregor, Forrest, Eddie, Moussa were to come up against our defence they would rip them apart for fun.

There is something very fishy going on at the club just now I don't know if it's since Lawwell has went onto the UEFA board and has taken his eye off the ball, however there is clearly friction between playing staff and board members. To think Rodgers is signing the quality of Ntcham and Edouard and also getting hit with Hayes and Hendry?

Rodgers constantly reinforces the fact he's only going to sign to strengthen the squad, Hayes, in particular, does not do that. We have an oversized squad with fringe players that provide nothing to the team and could clear 10-15k of the wage bill getting rid of 2-3 of these players.

MON left because his wife was ill, I thought everyone knew that. I also don't recall many being overly disappointed when Ronny left either but maybe that's just my memory ..

Hayes and Hendry are 2 of the more obvious BR targets so that's that theory shot down.

Here is a theory for you - What if Ntcham and Edouard are the boards/PL signings while Hayes, Compper, Gamboa, De Vries and Hendry are BR's ? :97:

In the champions league last season the excuse for getting beat at home to Anderlecht was that they had a bigger budget than us, which funnily enough he didn't bring up in the away leg when we won 3-0. He was wrong anyway and our team cost something like 1-2m more, now the excuse for the aek athens results is on the board. Has he ever came out and actually taken any responsibility for a result that hasn't went our way? He admitted the mistake he made in the Rosenborg game at home but that was only after we beat them 3-1, would he have came out and said the same thing if the score finished 1-1? doubt it.

Boards fault, Rodgers is however on the big bucks and should be doing a better job with the players he currently has. His press conferences are getting a bit unbearable, I don't want our manager to be babbling on about his ex clubs success in the champions league and beating around the bush as to why one of our defenders is not playing even though he is '100% fit'. Have a feeling once boyata leaves he will go right through him in the next presser.

That's not outwith the realms of possibility to be honest. Our Man City link has been going on for years before BR got here.

De Vries and Hendry are certainly BR targets given the way he spoke about them publicly and Hayes he worked with before at Reading so if he didn't fancy him he would've said. He was signed despite the vast majority of fans being against it...and he's showed nothing to dispel our fears.

Theres certainly a lot of conjecture being thrown around in here.

But one thing IS for sure. BR AND PL said at the beginning of his tenure that the manager was in charge of recruitment. This was in response to 2 seperate journalist questions.

Fast forward 2 years and BR has no knowledge of an iminent arrival in Arzani.

Only one of 2 things are possible here. Either they were both talking * or BR has had certain prviliges "removed".

Losing out on mcginn was embarassing yes but im not surprised we didnt "push the boat out" to secure him.
In fact if im PL im getting a little confused as to why i went and got kouassi for millions in the first place.

Our board have let us down badly this summer. No doubt about it.

But BR has to shoulder the blame also. 5 transfer windows and our defence is in the worst shape its been for nearly a decade.

His domestic heroics and slick soundbites wont win him a pass on this. Hendry and compper were players HE wanted. Bain is a player HE wanted. Gamboa is a player HE wanted.

The most worrying thing would appear to be, as another poster already pointed out, hes pulling a liverpool on us. Completely neglecting the back line in favor of a philosphy that cant hope to function without one.

Hopefully the debacles of the past two weeks are enough to light a fire under BOTH the board and BRs arses and get this mess sorted with a long term solution.

Don’t think that’s fair on Johnny to be honest. He’ll do a job here as back up.

Hendry on the other hand..... boy should be playing for a bottom half SPL team.

We've probably shelled out around £2 million by now on a transfer fee and wages and he has 1 goal and 2 assists for us. If we're going with a back-up I'd rather we gave game-time to the likes of Mikey Johnson.

Fair enough mate but he can cover a few positions and will always put in a shift, which is more than you can say for some at the moment.

Think there others that deserve stick well before Johnny.

True, it's just a worrying trend that too many of the signings are contributing very little for the outlay.

Exactly the guy is nowhere near good enough for us and there is better in our youth who are young enough to make big improvements in their game, we should be buying first teamers that pushes the current first teamers to squad players or have more faith in our youth and actually play them more regularly

Agreed, one of the philosophies outlined by Rodgers was that we'd have space to promote youth from within but our squad's so bloated right now that we can't do this.

Hayes was signed as cover for both sinclair and forrest ,being able to play both sides ,he was our rivals best player and scored a few goals as well ,didnt pay much ,no brainer signing thats not worked out .
