Mate you look about 52000 vs short .

You are gonna have to post a lot more before the season
ends,or win on the v bookie forum .

Cause if you lose (which i hope you dont) you will be on a
slippery slope ,having to borrow vs from the bank at extortionate
rate & you will have to post till your fingers hurt, just to keep
    your head above water.:icon_mrgreen:

  2. great post. People just have scapegoated him and one or two bad passes by Scott Brown is like etched into their memory while all the other stray passing is just instantly forgotten. I wish we could get detailed game stats. I agree bout the off the ball work he does. I think he suffered being one of 2 CMs in a 4-4-2 with delicate wee wide men who do not defend well That made a whole pile of dirty work fall on his shoulders. He has also had no settled partner for ages - Donati, Crosas, Ki, NGuemo etc, several of whom are no use at defending or tracking. If you put brown beside a good anchor CM who can defend a bit (Kayal will probably do that job well) and give him freedom to charge forward you will see his worth. Thought he was really excellent in the Motherwell game, especially in the 2nd half when he did a lot of attacking. Most CMs do not have the pace and mobility to make an impact in attack like that. There is a very useful player in there but he needs to be in a MF that gives him some freedom.

  3. Awww *, I will happily gamble all my V's that Scott Brown will score 10 goals this season :50:

Cheers mate, also a very good post. I think Brown is tidy on the ball, so I couldn't disagree more with people who complain about his passing accuracy. Like you say, Brown has had about 7 different partners in the middle of the park, cm's just like any other partership on the field need time to gel together before we get the required result.

He has been playing as a holding midfielder in alot of games, something which is not his natural role, the fact that he can balance getting forward and still getting back and covering for other players shows just how much he does on the pitch. I think some people want him to beat 4 players and smash one in the top corner, only then will they say he played well. I wish I could get a player cam for one of Brown's game's this season, so the entire game is focused on how much ground he covers, and how many potentially dangerous moves he has prevented. Surely the fans can see what he adds to the team? I dread to think what would happen if Sammy was sold, I think Brown would be Scotland's most wanted :38:

If we could get someone alongside him, who would give him the freedom to get forward (I think Kayal looks the man) we would all see Scott Brown at his best.

The lad deserves huge credit to the start of the season, not a slagging thread from our fans.

  4. Yeah, more good points mate. Brown is a very unselfish player in general and one all of his managers fully appreciate. I think the fans thought they were signing a 'Petrov' type of midfielder when we were signing a 'Gattuso' type instead.

I for one think we'd be lost without him although we do have Kayal who looks the part. I was a bit concerned during the Utrecht match however about how flimsy Juarez and him looked in the tackle which makes Brown's worth to the team even stronger for me. It's nice to have variation in the middle of the park and we're certainly not lacking in energy either.

You've now compared Scott Brown to 2 Champions League winning top drawer midfielders in Lambert and Gattuso. Seriously, this is getting ridiculous.

I'll top Ross by saying if Scott Brown scores 8 SPL goals this season I will cartwheel across George Square in a monkey thong singing the sash.

His contribution to us in a defensive sense is part up for debate, his contribution in an attacking sense is nil. He doesn't score or assist, how can folk argue that point? It's in black and white.

  6. You bassa hammer ,you stole my Monkey Thong.:56:

  7. To be fair mate he wasn't comparing the players, he was comparing their roles on the pitch.

I dont think the defensive duties of Browns game is up for debate, like saying Messi can't beat a man, being proven time and time again Brown is good in the defensive department.

As I previously mentioned, Brown is playing the holding midfielder in most games, he still gets forward and offers us energy and pace in the opposition half. Just making timely runs to allow others more space is very useful for us to create and score chances.

He can't win, if he went forward more and played as an attacking midfielder then when the opposition score, people will ask why Brown was not playing deeper and he will recieve stick for that.

If he wasn't playing well I would understand people having a go, but he has made a terrific start to the season, maybe had two very averge performances in both european away games but so were 9? other players in them very same games.

Brown is obviously doing something right which is why he is still a regular in the Scotland team and has survived under 3 different managers (Strachan, Mowbray, Lenny) and when fit has played in the majority of games. If he wasn't anything but a good team player, why is he still here? Not only has he been kept and played most of the games, he is the captain of our team, first by Mowbray and then Lenny kept him on as captain, if he was a 'headless chicken' as some people say, why has our manager made him captain? Surely Lennon knows more than us what Brown is capable of, he obviously sees what a few of us (metrobhoy, gunt etc) see in Brown, and that is a hardworking team player who gives his all to Celtic FC.

  9. agreed, he's rubbish. You can't even compare him to lennon as a player. Lennon took one touch and spread the ball 20 - 30 yards. Brown takes about 5 before attempting what some may call " a pass". He can't strike the ball so you can't compare him to Lambert. So...what do you do Scott? What do you do...* ALL.

  10. well mowbray certainly SHOULD know more than you or i about football-remember he started well just like lenny,if it all goes pear shaped "Broony" will be as hapless ,anonymous and culpable as ever MON WOULD HAVE HUNTED HIM OUT THE DOOR FASTER THAN BERKOVIC! total impostor-hope he gets a niggly injury that keeps him out til next may:50:

  11. TM tried to build his team around Brown. Nuff said.

  12. Stupid move building a team around a guy out injured all year.

  13. Did I ever say he was better or as good? No. Similar style, yes.

These players didn't create or score a great number of goals. By the way, Gary Naysmith never got an assist for Scotland because of Iwelumo. Is that fair? * stupid statistic to judge a player on.

That's you down in the diary as well Hammer:icon_mrgreen: 2nd September 2010:50:

  15. hes had a good start to the season imo, hes one of those players whom if they make a mistake it gets glorified by some fans into something disastrous, his passing is no where as bad as its made out to be, if he manages to be consistent which so far under lenny he has has imo for the most part anyway , then he'll be an important player for us this season along with kayal and juarez in midfield.

  16. I think we all know he's mediocre, but he has been playing better since the start of this season - hopefully Lennon will bring the best out of him.

One thing he is NEVER in a million years though, is captain material: that's just a joke.

He's the LAST player in the team I'd make captain.

  17. Too short a fuse some players need that and can deal with it Scott cant , he has had a decent at the start of the season but sadly i dont think it will work here for him duno why some players just never really turn out how you want them too , Can think back when he first signed and the way he played for Hibs was top class was thinking he was the player to replace stan never worked . Lennon loves him too much to drop him would rather see him on the bench and kayal and juarez and Ledley used in a three.

  18. When will Scott Brown score a goal?

Ok we are only 3 games into the league campaign, but after listening to Lennons remarks pre-season about Brown's attacking qualities.....I'm struggling to see what they are? He is now into his 4 year at the Club and has scored 9 goals in 93 apps, at Hibs he got 13 goals in 113 apps. So let be honest, is our memory being clouded, as he has never scored that many goals from midfield.

Would it be best for us to take the pressure off him scoring goals and for him to concentrate on being a defence midfielder? Personally the last few years we have struggled to get midfield goals (a reason why I think we lost the championship) but with Maloney, Forrest, Ledley and Juarez we have players better adapt at scoring.

I say he will get 5 goals this year..

  19. i know itss a bit depressing when you think more or less all the english teams have a goalscoring midfielder , when he first signed i thought he could do that job but when was the last time brown even attempted a shot from outside the box ffs
