And a point on Willie McStay, he actually has a transfer budget. And one which blows every team in the SPL bar the Huns and possibly Hearts out of the water, so he should be winning the reserve league every year, he would need to be manager of an actual team first, for instance if he took the Celtic reserve side into the 3rd division and took them up to the 1st consequtively

They haven't got really impressive achievements in their CV. And, I'm an opponent of the English style of play they mostly use. To appoint them would mean the board has no ambition.

Dunno if you've watched a lot of Motherwell mate, but I stay there and the football under McGhee especially last year was the most consistent in the league, constantly attacking and crisp passing movements. He does not have any Englsih style to him and Motherwell's constant attempts to pass it out from the back have cost them this year - that and having the second worst goal keeper the SPL ha ever seen.

Mowbray as well plays great football, even West Brom this year were one of the bet teams to watch in the Prem. His team at hibs were the best footballing side in the SPL and we've even taken their best players.

Foreign Managers are not always the answer, and Scottish managers are some of the best in the history of the game ever. Stein, Ferguson, Busby, Shankly, Moyes etc so maybe you shouldn't underestimate what we over here can produce manager wise.

I know you like Bilic man, and so do I - he would be my favourite for the job - but it seems increasingly like it is not going to happen.

I do not support people who haven't managed something big in their career. WBA, Hibs and Motherwell are hardly big. For a club of our reputation, a manager with experience in top class football is required.

It would be an incredible coup but I can't see it happening. Not only will the Croat FA be unwilling to let him go but we'd struggle to find the money for compensation and wages.

Not to mention, he'll be well watched by clubs with more negotiating power than ourselves.

He can do a Hiddink, and manage us and the NT at the same time.

Managing something big does not make you a great manager.

Jock Stein had only previously managed hibs and dunfermline - therefore you would just reject him from taking over the reigns here.

Whereas countless diddies have managed Real Madrid.

I would not consider Croatia big, but would take bilic in a heartbeat

He could, but again I can't see the Croatian FA even considering it long term and he could have his pick of clubs in far better leagues than ours.

Do you think that fans would pay to watch Mowbray or McGhee lead a team in which there would probably be few investments?
The board want to have another manager that saves wages. It'll cost us.

Hibs season tickets doubled while Mogga was there. So that answers that question.

You dont know anything about Mowbray if you consider his style to be a stereotypical English style of play.

Yes they would play better football than we are currently playing for a start. I think though that both McGhee and Mowbray would need more investment than Bilic.

For example, our current squad is far superior than any other in the SPL, if Bilic was to come in then there can be no doubting that we would win the SPL next season without requiring any further investment.

I think you are giving the homegrown management rather less credit than they truly deserve.

If you could have any manager - Say we were the richest club i the world playing in Spain - so any manager who would you have?

I love these debates man, the passion for one cause shows we all want what is bet for our club.

That's because he is a big name, in the eyes of Hibs fans. We're a bigger club and deserve better. I don't care how, I want a manager with good reputation in top leagues.
    Joshy:I'd have Felix Magath.

    Wrong.

It was because Hibs played good football. Felix Magath has just joined Schalke.

How can we afford someone who is proven in the top leagues? Furthermore, why would someone with a proven reputation feel the need to come here?

We all want a global player but it's just not realistic. The heavyweights don't want to manage here.

Ranieri would not turn down a job, I think. Bilić neither.

    Completely agree with that sentiment.
    Why not try?
Why not make Bilic an offer and see what he has to say?
It's this defeatist attitude - "Oh, we could never get a guy like that" - that annoys me more than anything.
If Bilic, Moyes and a host of other top managers reject us, then fair enough. If this happened, no-one would complain about the possibility of Mowbray becoming the manager.
If the board make a realistic attempt to get a top manager, I'll regain some respect for them.

You never know. I think if you get a manager over, give him the VIP treatment and anythings possible. PLG is proof of that.

At least have a try and get a top drawer manager.

My problem with the likes of Mowbry is that he is likely to build a lightweight passing side. If you look at the last 20 years the team who has won the league always has the physically stronger side.
