He romped the qualifying section, making england look like amateurs on their own ground.

I think his CV stands out more than half the clowns we are linked too.

Everyone knows that its easier to manage a national team as they only play a few games a year. The guy doesn't have the experience, let him go and get it by managing one of the * teams in the premiership.

We haven't got much better options than Bilić. SPL managers are out of question.

What the *!? There are only two significant tournaments an international manager can win - the World Cup and the European Championships.

To have won either of these while manager of a nation with a population of 4.5million is probably close to impossible - Under Slaven Bilic, Croatia have at least challenged and beaten most of the worlds top nations.

Remember beating England at Wembley to reach Euro 2008? How many sides have done that?
They topped that group which also contained a good Russia side managed by Guus Hiddink.
At that tournament his side won all 3 games in the group stage including a win over Germany.
They were knocked out in freak style by Turkey in the QF

he would be a great choice,if the football that croatia play is anything to go by, this craic of mowbray, leiven and mcghee is only a joke for our great club,a high profile job demands a big name who's a winner

M8 you keep saying no SPL managers but there have been far more successful mangers come out of Scotland than there has out of Croatia, thats a fact.

That means * all, So just because Scotland have produced some really good and probably some of the best managers ever to grace the game does that mean that we should only look at Scottish managers, We don't wont to be like Newcastle who only want a Geordie manager because no one else 'understands' the club like them, and hence why Big Sam was hounded out the club despite holding a respectable league position.

Open up your mind. There are some bad managers from Scotland too.

These modern SPL ones are not for us. If we cannot get a foreign gaffer, I'd promote McStay from the Reserves team. Doing a Guardiola is worth a shot. Still, I'd want Bilić.

bilic is the man if the board have any ambition or do they jist want to compete with them. look at the buzz around scotland when rangers atrracted a manager like plg OK i know it didn't work out but for us to get a manager like bilic would be the exact same. no offence to guys like coyle, mowbary, and mcghee but if thats the people on our shortlist i wouldn't be happy infact i would rather phone wgs and beg him to come back. its about time our board done something to get the fans back at parkhead and singing and we need to make an impact in europe next season

    What are you talking about?

I never said I only wanted a Scottish manager I am just making a point that there has been loads of good Scottish managers over the years. Try reading the posts before you jump on peoples backs for giving their opinion.

Agreed... but of the 6 who are on the front of the daily ranger, I don't see anything in those 6 that make me desperately want them here. Mowbray? no ty, McGhee? no ty, Coyle? maybe, Keane? get a grip, we might aswell make lennon manager.. can't remember the other 2..

I think Bilic would bring something new, seomthing fresh, something we need.

I would love to see him get a chance.

and for those saying he's out of our wage bracket.. hello.. we have zero debt. We need to create debt if we want to start making money again. I doubt we'll qualify for the CL so there's £10-15m gona already. £2m from the Peace Cup too. Bilic earns $340,000 a year as Croatia manager. Approx £260k a year Not even 26k a week? Plus I don't think money is what motivates him, so lets test him and see what he would accept.

I'd certainly welcome someone new and exciting over the droll that's being spouted.

Yes. He is far better than your mcghee or mowbray *. Plus we could lure him with champions league football and i could see him manaing to force money out of the board and spending big. He would also have a lot of heart when it comes to old firm games. I know he would use us as a stepping stone to the premiership but i dont care i just really dont want to see a manager who couldnt get motherwell into the top 6 at CP. We are better than that.

    Can he speak english though??

I don't know what has stunned you so much to say "what the *!?"

I'm not saying he should have won something, it's just you said talented players alone don't win anything and i said well Croatia didn't win anything, so what has he added? He got them to QF of euro 2008? Do you think this is a great achievement? I think with the group of players they had, this was the minimum you would expect. As for beating england, if you're going to highlight 1 off games, was he not also in charge of a croatia side that got stuffed at home to England, 1-4 i think in the current WC qualifying campaign?

I'll reiterate my original point, he may turn out to be a gd manager but at this point is unproven and is therefore too big a risk for me. I don't know how anyone can say he is a good manager yet. what can you base that on? (A QF finish?) He hasn't done enough to warrant that. The most you could say is he could potentially be one. I think the fact he has a big personality is clouding your judgement.

No. In case we couldn't get anything foreign, I'd kick Mowbray and McGhee in the * and take McStay.

Why are you so against Mowbray and McGhee?
