Friday will mark 3 weeks until the window opened.

Anyone think we'll sign anyone before then? Me neither.

 

My old man is 77. Telling me yesterday he expects two in by the end of the week. Following us since he was a wean. Tells you everything about some of our support

 

Is it just me that's struggling to make sense of your post?

We have players in the Scottish National team that only seem to impress at club level

 

Just meaning that even some of the older generation still don’t seem to learn how we do our business

 

What do the younger generation know that they/we don't?

In fact, mostly NO * knows how Celtic do their business, and I include those actually doing the business for Celtic...

 

We will never know the inner workings of the club but when you have Lawell still at the club in whatever capacity, having stated in the past he would always be reluctant to sign players months before a season started and be effectively paying them for nothing, then we know generally how things will pan out. Knowing for so long Hart was leaving, having no one right now is disgraceful but not even remotely surprising. People are correctly * off imo. GK will need time to gel with the back 4. So I would argue that most of us know how Celtic do their business. Ponderously * slow.

 

This isn't how signing players necessarily needs to work though. You can sign them to start at the beginning of pre-season with them remaining at their club until then. The deal could be finalised at any point during the window, so there's no actual reason we couldn't have deals agreed at the start of the window that come into effect later. It's just mismanagement, pure and simple. Lazy, feckless, disinterested leadership.

 

It truly makes it a sad day to support the club, when you know the men and women tasked with running it have zero ambition and don't match the enthusiasm and passion of the fans.

If we signed that lot plus a left back of a similar quality, I'd be absolutely raging.

Schmeichel is class, but if he retires soon, we would be in the same position next summer, or the one after. If he was to go on to coach here, I would be more in favour.

 

His Da is still better than Bain

 

If he's still class, that's all that matters. Nobody stays forever. Who's to say a younger keeper would outlast Schmeichel? We may lose him to a wealthier club or he may suck like Barkas or Siegrist.

 

Very good keeper in his prime but 38 this year..

No for me but Rodgers would've worked with him and he was good playing out from the back also. Decent presence and loads of top level experience..

 

True, for Every Forster and Boruc, there have been more that have failed here.

 

I’d still take Schmeichel

 

Thing is realistically we need 2 goalies. It's not like Bain hasn't aged or gained any more experience in the last 3/4 years. He should absolutely be 3rd choice.
