If you want a show where you can sit there and be entertained for an hour, and don't have to worry about following it week after week, episode after episode ... Law & Order: SVU.

    STILL a solid show.

My favourite show of all-time is Seinfeld. NEVER get bored of it. 24 and The Thick of It are pretty close.

I would have said 24 categorically a few months ago but now it is between that and The Sopranos.

Prison Break the 1st 2 seasons were superb then it slowly just got boring and repetitive

Entourage is one I'd recommend to anyone. Californication aswell, decent amount of nudity in it and it's on netflix. Enjoy bhoys!

    * excellent show. Really didn't want it to end, seasons 4&5 were top class.

Why does Arrested Development get such great reviews, watched the first 5 episodes and never found it funny in the slightest.

    I loved it.

It's an acquired taste, that's for sure.

It was about a year ago i started it. Enjoyed the 5 episodes but i didn't find it had much laughs. Will definitely get back to it one day though but not now.

Anyone recommend a really funny comedy tv show?

There isn't one funnier than Arrested Development. It's a cliche, but there really are hundreds of jokes you miss the first time you watch each episode.

EDIT: Admittedly I didn't think too much of the pilot the first time I saw it but you need it to set up the characters for the rest of the show. One of the best jokes "George Michael's cousin Maeby" took me years to figure out.

I want to kind of move away from 80's sitcoms, maybe something more up to date like a good action/drama series.

British = Fresh Meat, Bad Education

American - Workaholics, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Arrested Development is outstanding. Probably my 3rd favourite tv show of all time after South Park and Breaking Bad
