I only remember Jackie from his later years but I'd still pick him ahead of Mik. I know enough to know he was a excellent player in his day and a reliable character. 10 years of service as well, just a shame how it ended.

From what I remember of Agathe he was like an absolute machine running up and down the touchline, used to cause havoc for the opposition, so powerful and quick. To me due to the excitement whenever he'd got on the ball I'd give it to him.

Jackie McNamara was the better footballer but since the question is who was the better right back, it's got to be Hinkel.

Jackie was more consistent over a longer period but Agathe was an absolute machine at his best.

Was also at near Kieran Tierney levels in his slide tackling.

Agathe was not the best at defending, but by * what a player to have at that time.

    Has to be him.

Toss up between Agathe & McNamara. Chose Jackie as he was a better defender. If it was as a wing back with a decent defence behind them, then it would be Didier. One of my favourite ever Celtic players. Nothing was better than watching him skip by 2 or 3 challenges then hit a stinker of a cross :smiley-laughing002:

Like most it was a toss up between Jackie McNamara and Didier Agathe for me but given the length of time he spent as a key player for us I gave the nod to Jackie.

    Agathe.

Never liked Hinkel as much as most people do. Think Lustig is a much better full back.

I'd go for Agathe then lustig, McNamara was quality but always thought he had his best years when he played left back

Jackie, Agathe wasn't really a right back so to speak, he played wide right in a 3-5-2

He always kinda was though. Would you call Agathe a midfielder or a winger? I wouldn't I would say he was a wing-back who then moved to full-back.

If you compare him to Thompson who was on the other side i'd say was just a left-mid. Thompson wasn't a defender or even a wing-back, even when we played 3-5-2 we mostly defended as a 4-4-2 where Valgaeren became like a left-back with Thompson in front of him and Agathe a right-back with Petrov infront of him rather than the Juventus style 3-5-2 that they play now where they do defend in a 5-3-2 style.

Jackie was one of my favourite players when I was younger, Always loved him always will, wish he was involved with Celtic in some way as a youth coach or something.

So Jackie for me with Agathe a close second and Boyd just missing out on second.

I think Hinkel's consistency is up there with Joe Ledley tbh. He was a great player for us.

Agree totally with this, he was one of my favourite players of that period, he would easily be a steady 7 every week, that may have been his so called problem he was really steady, but on his day was a real quality RB
