Matuzalem now that brings back memories remember Brandao aswell remember getting drawn Spartak for first time just off back of us making uefa quarter final year before and the final before that confident we were top class team and we would smoke them and that donetsk team and matuzalem as you say battered us

Another contender was Youri Djorkaeff, in that PSG that won the CWC. He destroyed us at Celtic park.

 

I mind when we played Salzburg a few players really stuck out. When we played them first time at CP,, in 2024 Alan and Kampl destroyed us and in 2018 I remember being really impressed by Samessekou, he bossed the midfield completely. Genuinely thought he'd have went on to a top top team.

Shakhtar had a few over the years but none more so than Mudryk, * knows what's happened to him * he was electric.


Going back a bit, anyone remember a wee striker for Anderlecht called Aruna Dindane? Played for Portsmouth later in his career but he ripped us to shreds.

Another that springs to mind was Parejo when we played Valencia. They took him off at half time but I remember thinking wow, what a player, absolutely random the show that night. - Just realised the OP mentioned him

When we played Rapid Vienna I was very impressed with Jelavic in both legs, Wish we'd signed him at the time.

A player who we did sign.that I was also impressed with was Moi Elyounoussi. I remember after we played Molde @Mr Shelby called for us to sign him every window

Again going back, maybe more for the 2nd leg but he also scored at CP, Kevin Kuranyi was a handful for Stuttgart.

A bit of a random one, but also Brice Wembangomo for Bodo. He was their right footed left back, but he was so press resistant he just took the * everytime we pressed. Signed for Hacken recently, thought he'd go onto better things. Speaking of better things Victor Boniface came on as a sub for Bodo that night.

 

Thought Messi when he was only 19 when Barca beat us3-2 in the last 16, scored 2 lovely goals and his dribbling and passing was on another planet even at that age

I used to have banter with this Portuguese kid at work. I would say things like ''3 players, Messi, Hronaldo, Samaras!'' and he would * himself. He showed no emotion after being congratulated by his team mates. The noise from the stand sounded like anguish.
I'm surprised that I recovered from that tbh. Celtic Park generates sound different than any other I believe. Like the sound of pure hope when the CL anthem drops for example, just cant beat the raw emotion.
