Lahm, I think Ashley Cole is vastly over-rated

IMO its Cole at the minute. Evra's up there so is Lahm etc. Younger guys like Clichy and Gibbs also get mentions as I think they will be LB stars in the future

if lahm's prefered position was lb over rb then it would be him, but otherwise either evra or cole

    Ashley Cole.

If he wasn't such a * I suspect the replies in here would reflect that.

    1st

    Ashley Cole

A superb fullback who never stops bombing down the wings and overlapping Malouda giving great support to the strikers, my choice because aswel as been a massive threat going forward, Cole can defend really well. Incredible pace which is always vital when your playing in such a high tempo team like Chelsea.

    2nd

    Patrice Evra

Excluding the shambolic display from him and his team mates at the W/C he is normally one of the most reliable and consistent left back's in the world, my second choice for the best left back in the world, been a massive servant to United, just like Cole he is always offering options out wide and hurts team with his pace even at 29? Good defensively and has to be right up there.

    3rd Lahm

The Bayern Munich and German left back imo was up there with the top 3 players in the W/C, the lad is amazing, he has a wicked delivery off the ball, he has quite amazing pace to hurt teams and has a really winning mentality and was the captain for his national team at only 26.

Was a huge toss up between Bale and Lahm but Lahm has already proved himself against the best of the best in the champions league with Bayern and then getting to the Semi finals with Germany in the world cup going against some of the best players in the world.

Bale, despite his quite brillaint performances against Inter still has to prove himself as a consistent superb left back, he has the potential to be the best left back in the world in the future, he has more pace than any of the left back's mentioned above, not only pace, but he knows how to use his pace to maximum effect and doesn't just run with the ball and get nowhere, he knows when to release it, his crossing is nothing short of wonderful, best crosser of the ball than the other 3 left backs I would say. I think its only a matter of time before he leaves Spurs, they are really improving but if he wants to achieve his true potential he must go to Real/Barcelona/Inter.

Alot of potential stars coming through at LB with Clichy, Gibbs, Izzy :icon_mrgreen: and the young French lad Cishoko. (SP?)

    I'd go for Lahm.

Without a doubt Cole. Anybody who says different is just because they (understanably) think he is a complete *.

Santon can play left back. He usually started there for Inter when first coming through. He's played so little I can't even remember where he plays!
