best defender? before there was even a mention
of a sweeper{the brush} john clark was the
ultimate player. the nearest ive seen to him was a young bryan robson. and after mackay and kennedy
jim craig and t g were pioneers in the attacking fullback mould.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Danny McGrain or Billy McNeill for me.

I would say Johan Mjalby, Alan Stubbs, Marc Reiper, Paul Elliot and Danny McGrain.

I think Danny Mc Grain was truly world class right back, however I think Paul Elliot and George Connelly were the best central defenders we have ever had in the past 40 years, and I would have Tommy Gemmell at left back, this back four would not have ever lost four goals to Aberdeen's best ever team, never mind the crap side we faced yesterday !!!

From my memory, never saw Caesar or Gemmell or the like but I would go for Rieper. Mjallby/Bobo/Boyd and Valgaeren all good too.
