Was just asking in general mate as I don't know Glasgow too tough day to day..

Don't know Govanhill whatsoever but the rest even I wouldn't fancy buying first time if I didn't know enough of my surroundings or who lived there. Possil and Springburn look rough to me but I quite like edgy place's to an extent (as lived in quite a few down here. Actually prefer them to the more well to do area's) and no far from City centre. Living place's like that with the missus, and eventually weans would put me off though..

I don't know if you both drive or not but 100% that's what I'd think in area's that were a bit dodgy. Missus going to and from work etc..

Lived in some of the rougher part's of South London and quite liked it. Would I * do it with my missus and kid's. Infact we're in a pretty crime free area now..

Good luck anyway Zander. I'm sure yous will find somewhere more than suitable..

I live in battlefield mate its not as expensive as you might think, depends what your looking for really.

We got our 1 bedroom flat for £63,000, it was valued at £70,000.

All it really needed was a lick of paint. So there are bargains, just got to keep an eye out.

Saying that we moved in literally on Christmas eve so maybe we got a better deal as i dont know alot of folk willing to move house around xmas :56:

I grew up in Cathcart and still visit friends and family who still live there now, it's a really nice area with excellent transport links and some good restaurants and Pubs around - The Bank on Clarkston Rd is a nice though its a bit of a hun fest, watched an old firm game in their once, never again. I know you're young but in the long term if you're thinking about children Merrylee Primary School is in the catchment area, one of the best schools in the country.

Of course you get the odd bam, you're within walking distance of Govanhill but I've never had a problem while down there myself.

Aye definitely avoid these areas. 100%.

Do not go to Rutherglen either. It is a manky, hun infested shithole, dirty as * anaw.

    Not comparable to Belfast.

All the areas are mixed and have been for years.

Aye, certainly not comparible to Belfast, but Brigton/Dalmarnock/Baltic are the orange-fuckpig areas of Glasow, probably only area that could be considered a Tim area is the likes of Royston/Garngad.

I grew up in Croftfoot (in the 80s/90s) and it was great. It's went downhill recently as loads of guys buying them to let out, some to DSS. That might have stopped now with the new second home tax, and some streets were better than others. Good sized flats for the money, and you get your own garden too. Go for one with a driveway.
