I lived in the "New" Gorbals for 3 years. It was actually pretty decent. Close to down, plenty parking and was only a 10 minute walk from my office.

Bishy/Colston/Milton is a decent shout then. Even Balornock as well tbh.

Just watch with Milton and Balornock, although both are far better than they used to be there is still some shady places with shady people living there. I've got family in both and they've been there forever without hassles though. Suppose it's no different to anywhere really.

You and your missus are still young pups, I know you're out of the student period now, but you're still in that kinda scene I would imagine.

Would be better somewhere out in cathcart, battlefield somewhere like that.

No point in ye moving out somewhere like Kirky away out the road unless you were planning on settling down somewhere.

I've never actually thought of even looking there, is it nice?
Anniesland would be very convenient for me, not quite so much for the GF, but it is an area I've been considering
Cheers mate, I'm thinking Bishy is a bit out of our price range probably, but I'll consider Milton, it's definitely a convenient location

Biased as *, but I'd look at kings park, Rutherglen, Cambuslang, Baillieston.
Some bad parts in each, but generally pretty good. You'll get a lot for your 100k in those areas.

I've been looking for myself, 2/3 bedroom 4 in a blocks or terraced houses for the 75-85k mark. Bit more and get yourself a nice semi detached.

I've spotted a few nice looking, well finished 1 bedroom flats for 50-60k as well, but for a couple you prob rather the two bedrooms for any future proofing.

Aye, to be fair the more I think about it the more I would like somewhere with a buzzing community, rather than a scheme, Battlefield would be great but it's one of those where to get something in my price range it'd need to be a fixer-upper or just luck. It wont be until 6 month or so before we are actually going to buy, I'm just getting ideas of where to look

Ashgill Road and round that sort of area is fine. Plus the brucey bonus is La Casa has just opened along the road and it's dynamite!

I would think Battlefield, Mount Florida and Kings Park are all nice areas with great transport links, shopping and facilities, parks etc. Southside is definitely the best in my opinion for preference and affordability, and you would easily get a good starter place for up to £100,000.Resale value further down the line is guaranteed too.

Most of kings park is good, quiet enough, but streets can be tight as * when it comes to cars and parking.
Stick to the likes of kingsheath, Kingsbridge, Kingsacre area and its just all residential 4 in a blocks and a few semi detached. Know a few folk live down that way and the houses are nice and decent size for what you pay.

I'd say, on the whole stay away from halfway (though not all bad or as bad as it used to be), and if you go to Rutherglen or Cambuslang, as always, steer clear of the main street for flats.

Bit hit and miss some of it, you don't want the main streets, and don't go too far towards tory Glen, but some decent places within and quiet enough areas. Go east main street is not bad around that area, going towards Burneside. Also kings park and coming closer to the main street in to (some) or burn hill.

One look around the areas and you'll quickly know when you've went a street too far haha.

But for the price of property, pretty good value. The whole area isn't as bad as made out and certainly not as bad as it was 15 years ago.

    * folk in Ruggy, they don't welcome strangers, especially from Glasgow, it's like the Hillbillies from Deliverance :bye1:
South Toryglen is not a bad bet either. It has the old Western Heritable steel houses semi detached in Admory Avenue, not bad there at all.

Me? Probably Parkhead, Dalmarnock, Bridgeton (been around those places enough to know that I don't really like the look of them), Govanhill, Springburn, Possil, pretty much anywhere that would be considered a bit rough. I know every place has it's good and bad areas and I am generalising a bit here.
