Probably would have had another as well, if Kenny played him in.

A bit of a discredit to Commons :giggle1:.. he carried us in that 2013-2014 season.

The goalscoring positions he gets himself in is impressive

I didn't mean it as an insult! Just reminds me of him a bit. Technically sound, one-paced, goal threat. Although I reckon KC would have buried at least one of the headers before he scored.

Should have had at least a hat trick tonight, unlucky their keeper made two top saves but some of the headers he fluffed before he scored were unreal.

With some of his movement you can see how he played false 9 at times before.

He's a bit slicker technically than Commons in control and dribbling and a bit less of a good ball striker. Commons was a pretty good finisher and crosser too, Nygren hits quite floaty and high crosses without great quality.

So far Nygren has missed about 10 sitters for us, that Hibs home game was it which was probably our other good performance this season he could have scored about 4 as well.

Hard to know what to make of that tonight tbh. On one hand it’s not a stretch to say he should’ve had 5 goals but he’s popped up with the winner and is our only fit consistent goal threat.

Thought he was very good tonight. Could, and should have had at least a hat trick.
    Never a winger though.

I know this is a wee bit out there…but does anyone else think he’d make a cracking striker if he retrained to be that position?

His finishing is decent, he gets into goal scoring positions all the time and he can get on the end of a header.

He looks a perfect 10 to me..

Would score bundles from there and his lack of pace wouldn't be shown up as much. Always breaks beyond the striker as well to get on things..

Agree with those that say he is not a right winger but for me given our lack of options out there I think we should go with Nygren on the right at least until January. Thought he was decent tonight. Really should have had a hat trick. Couple of bad misses but credit he kept at it got his goal and only their keeper making an unreal save denied him a second.

He kind of plays there when he plays for Sweden, they play 2 up front and he plays as one of them when he gets on.

He reminds me of Harry Kane the way he controls and moves about with the ball lol

I dont think hes effective in a midfield 3.

Finishing was poor tonight and could have been costly but he keeps finding good positions when hes further up the pitch.

Unfortunately I dont think he suited to Rodgers preferred system but for all that hes not a classic winger, ID rather have him playing there and finding good positions that Yang or Forrest offering very little.

Benjamin Nygren may have been Celtic’s match-winner against Sturm Graz, but after the game, the Swedish attacker was quick to praise his teammates and speak about adapting to a new role for the good of the side.

The 24-year-old was deployed on the right wing for the Europa League game, away from his usual central position, yet still managed to make the difference with a composed header midway through the second half. His attitude and versatility stood out as Celtic fought back from a goal down to claim all three points

Speaking exclusively to CeltsAreHere, Nygren admitted that he was playing out of his natural role but made it clear that he’s happy to do whatever is required to help the team win. It’s a mindset that has quickly made him one of Brendan Rodgers’ most trusted players.

His professionalism and selflessness were evident both during and after the match, pressing tirelessly off the ball, working hard for his teammates, and taking responsibility in key moments.

He said: “I played a little bit out of position today.

“I tried to do as best as I can — of course I can play on the side, but I think other positions suit me better as a player.

“Wherever I am on the pitch, I always do my best and try to do as good as possible for the team to win.”

Thought he was shocking in the first half, never helped AJ or Donovan defensively then hid behind players. Played out of position though so a bit of leeway there but he’s defo a no.10 or even striker.
