Im confused now, can someone clarify. From what I can work out, if we get a point against Benfica, we will quality for the last 16? And it then goes to the final day whether its first or second.

We will qualify tomorrow if we get a score draw and Barcelona beat Spartak Moscow.

If we get a 0-0 draw and Barcelona beat Spartak Moscow then we will probably still qualify, but there would still be a remote chance for Benfica going into the last set of matches if that were to happen.

Hopefully Barca win the early kick off and that guarentees us still being in Europe which is a great achievement when you look at the group we are in. Even if Barca win and we lose tomorrow, Spartak then have nothing to play for when coming to Parkhead. And i would still fancy Barca strongly to beat Benfica at the Nou Camp even though they would be group winners already. So then a point at home to Spartak would see us through. Basically, if we pick up one point from our two remaining games, we would be really unlucky not to clinch second place.

Just realised the group table on the BBC website wasn't correct :56: it said Benfica were on 3 and us 7! Thanks for that mate.

I really do not want Barca to lose in all honesty. Should that happen and we don't get the right result tomorrow, then what a lift it gives the whole Spartak team for coming to us in the final game. Even if we did get a draw, if Spartak win then we are still not through.

Not sure I really like Barca kicking off before us. I'd rather kick off first so we know who we want to win. As others have said, I kinda want Barca to win to give us a better chance of qualification on the night, kinda want Spartak so that we have the chance to go top.

For anyone that's interested I have a spare ticket for the Benfica game. Travelling on my own but ended up with two tickets. Face value to anyone who might be stuck. Hail Hail:celt_2:

We've got to be really careful the way we approach this game. If we surrender the flanks in the manner in which we did against Barcelona then Cardozo can hurt us off balls into the mix.

We've got to play with our heads; try and catch them on the break but not be afraid to assert ourselves on the match.

Folk are getting ahead of themselves wanting Spartak to win. We want to qualify, topping the group would be outwith the realms of possibility imo.

Barca have never been beat in Russia and they very rarely go 2 games without a win in any competition. Disregarding that, though, they are much better than Spartak and I don't think Spartak have it in them for the sort of mammoth effort we put in to beat them.

    * a Spartak win, by the way! I hope they get shat on from a great height, so the Europa league is guaranteed, and we don't end up with some twitchy home game against a Spartak side buoyant after a game against Barca, with the hideous possibility of finishing 4th!

    No thanks.

Lennon comments on the matter / possible Europa guarantee show he is thinking along these lines as well...........let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet in any way whatsoever.

All I care about is our qualifying. If other results go our way and we end up as group winners then all well and good but I certainly don't expect to see that happen.

:50:. Completely agree. Talking about winning the group is pie in the sky IMO. As you said, i certainly do not want to be sitting in my seat against Spartak with my * making buttons at the thought we could still go out of Europe all together.
