Glad the complainants are keeping on the BBCs case they can't just brand the songs we sing sectarian, because the huns sing real venomous sectarian songs.

It's blatantly putting us both in- the easy to manage- 'Old Firm problem.'

This thread important for keeping the pressure on the BBC and fair play to you all:50: It shouldn't be high jacked by the rights and wrongs of The IRA.:shamrock:

Nah, Edinburgh just doesnt on the whole have as sectarian society as Glasgow. People mixed in much more, there was therefore not many people whose blood was any more Irish than they were Scottish left. So people stopped having an Irish identity. Its pretty daft when you are three quarters Scottish and one quarter Irish to consider yourself Irish just because you are a catholic or some other lame reason. Hibs and Dundee United support dropped the Irish stuff because after a few generation there was not too many people left who can in all seriousness consider themselves more Irish than Scottish. Its a healtthy thing and Hibs should not be critcised for growing up and losing the ghetto mentality.

Thanks very much for that ignorant post.

Are you saying we should be criticised for keeping our identity?

Edinburgh doesn't have the sectarian side Glasgow does? Where was Neil Lennon attacked by a football supporter for being a Northern Irish Catholic Celtic fan? Don't talk utter pish Gunt.

It's a bit like Glasgow in the way that all the sectarian and racist problems are on the Loyalist team's side and not the one with Irish roots.

Same old * every time those who wanna sing pro ira songs say " we have sung them for years" like the same argument i get from people i know about the orange walk etc. Get this I am a roman catholic with irish relataves BUt i am scotish and while i agree celtic should remember its irish roots * does that have to do with the ira or any derivitive of them. Ive said before i could never guess what it was like for irish people during the troubles BUT is ireland not trying to move on because history is always there but the future isnt written yet. Ive not seen anyone on here say oh you shouldnt sing that song etc BUT what they have said is dont sing them inside paradise because i can assure you that you dont need to be a hater of celtic or ireland to find these songs distasteful

Just a small example is when I was at the last game of the season at Tynecastle the season before last, I was walking to Haymarket station to get the train home, just outside Tynecastle I was walking by in my Celtic shirt when I overheard a Hearts fan saying to his mate (not sure if that is mates as I didn't turn around) something along the lines of "I'm going to get those Fenians," now I don't think he was aware I was ahead of him showing my Celtic top off as I had a jacket unzipped over it but who's to say he wouldn't have went for me if he had noticed. As I said I don't think Hibs have a problem, it's just Hearts in the same way the problem in Glasgow lies with Rangers rather than Celtic, the only thing is the media try to make it look like we do have a problem and rarely mention the big problems in the Rangers & Hearts supports.

Typical BBC, typical arrogance as expected from a pro-Rangers organisation. Rob Mc Lean made a blatant mistake because he doesn't know that Irish Rebel Songs don't actually fall into the category of " Banned Sectarian Songs " as far as UEFA and the SPL are concerned, however it didn't stop this Hun Lover trying to score cheap points with the " Great unwashed ".

I think we have all known for many years that the BBC and Rob Mc Lean are all for Rangers, you only need to look at his face when Rangers win or Celtic lose, there's a grin from ear to ear. He appears to think that by making such statements it lessens the vulgar singing from the Bluenoses, wrong Mc Lean, they are singing " Banned Sectarian Songs " such as the Sash, No Surrender & Billy Boys, all I need say is which club has been banned by UEFA Rangers or Celtic.

Yes there are bigots throughout Scottish football on each side of the fence, we are not without our minor problems within Celtic, so I ain't sticking my head in the sand on this issue.

Personally I would prefer not to hear Irish Rebel Songs being sung around CP and at away grounds in Scotland, come on let's face it time to move on. We are a football club not a bunch of politicians, we're lucky to have Celtic to support, we have superb club songs and supporters who are clever enough to compose new one's ever season, so let's keep ourselves out in front of the rest, while other clubs can only

Do you know the biggest atrocity, of them all ? Cast your minds back to the C.I.S. Cup Final, this year. The manky lot, thought their team was onto a humpin, because of the fitba we were playing, and the skelping we gave them at the new year. We were hot favourites with the bookies, and their fans were dreading it. So they went to Hampden, in total defiance, and sang sectarian bile for all of the 90 minutes and more. Did the BBC miss that one, because the full footballing world saw it and heard it. So what did the sfa do, to these wee innocent, bitter fans, did they huckle them in mass hoardes ? Did they nearly wipe out rfc, because of imposing a hefty fine on them, did they ban any fans ? But you know what ? * all was done, and the bile was hushed hushed, let's rejoice in the huns cup win, thats more important to scotlands people, than a few wee party tunes, sung by the same bigoted fans, who have wrecked, and terrorised half of europe's cities. But, let a single Tim, sing the Irish national anthem, or TBOB, lets do them for treason. The BBC and the rest of them, SKY included, should hang their heads in shame, for turning their backs on this hatred
