BBC reply to Cup Final complaint

I'm not embarrassed by Irish history, but being born in Scotland, I feel I should be able to support a Scottish club without having to belt out songs about Irish republicanism and still feel like just as much of a fan as anyone else.

 

Your not allowed to be Scottish and support Celtic though it seems, when applying for a season ticket did you not have to fill out a 'how Irish are you' form?.........................................

 

Name a song that we sing that is racist and sectarian please?

If you find songs about my country racist and offensive. That would make you racist and offensive.

 

suppose it would then but then again it would make you a bit of a * singing them in a foreign country

 

So why do you need to verbally attack other Celtic supporters songs and views?

I respect that you don't want to sing. So why can't you respect that others do?

 

Not singing songs is offensive to nobody. Singing songs about the IRA is offensive to some and undeniably impertinent to football matches.

 

If a man from France came over to Scotland and started singing songs about his history would there be a problem?

You might as well start singing "The Famine Song" from the say you are talking.

If his songs contained add-ons referencing an organisation that had murdered innocent women and children on these shores then I'm going to stick my neck out and say there would be a problem with Monsieur's singing.

Are Irish identity makes us unique. You seem to be embarrassed about it. We are loved all over the world because of what we are and what we stand for. You should be proud.

 

surely there are clubs in Ireland you can support and sing your songs there? Instead of coming to Scotland and singing them in a Scottish ground? but i forgot teams in Ireland dont get enough media coverage for your cause. The point being you and your like use Celtic as a political pedestal you say you support Celtic but for what reason? Because they were formed by a Irish catholic priest? For me i support them for the football they play on the pitch.

 

and what about all the innocent irish people that was murderd by the brittish? they not count?

celtic were founded by an irishman you are correct and celtic are a scottish team waay on a roll you! but wether you like it or not celtic fans are * proud of the irish heritage along with the scottish one thats in celtic fc.
