Same attacking phase of play as the goal, Maeda clearly impeded off the ball. VAR should've checked and goal should've been ruled out. * UEFA saving Bayern.

The composure we showed playing out from the back against a top team was really pleasing, this felt like a mature European performance, like we really belong on the CL stage.

Overall an excellent CL campaign, so many positives.

I'd rather we got pumped 5-0. I feel sick :56:

In all seriousness going from dortmund to that was very impressive.

Agree with you but thought McCowan deserved a sub tonight.

We looked like we deserved to be at that level...given 10 years of underperformamce, that's progress.

Aye I think if we could have that last 10 minutes back McCowan would’ve come on to give us some fresh legs cause the entire team and midfield were completely burst. Couldn’t get out and were just dropping deeper and deeper but can’t have any complaints really.

As * gutting as that was anything but pride would be totally unjust. Every single one of the players left absolutely everything out there and that’s all you can ask.

    Very proud of the team.

Let’s go mop up the treble and absolutely skelp the Huns in 3 weeks time.

For me it’s poor on so many levels, I don’t think the ref sees it as the play is over to the right and Maeda and Upemecano are beyond the play but he sees a player down holding his face/ head the game should be stopped at that point for that sort of injury.

I imagine their excuse will be about phases of play but the reality is Maeda our left winger who is brilliant at providing defensive cover is down, they get an overload down our left as a result. Even when they recycle the ball Olise has space due to Maeda being taken out off the ball and not being back in.

When you see some of the things people get sent off for in Europe and the CL I would say Upemecano was fortunate in both legs not to see red and concede a penalty. He nicks the ball in the first game but then catches Engels high with studs up, Maeda has been sent off twice in the last two seasons for far less. Tonight he throws his arm across Maeda’s face to stop him running beyond him, that surely classifies as endangering an opponent and it is off the ball, so clearly not a genuine attempt to play the ball?

It’s not that the game in the 93rd of 94 minutes we should have had a free kick in an area that we could have really had a go at getting the goal that puts us through, instead we are back defending our box a man down.
