Think you've got a point there.

A bit like the 'Ross Wallace' situation a couple of years back. Trying to turn a 3ft winger into a LB.

I think after January he will be put back into midfield just Strachan needs a stop gap until an actual wing back is bought.

He can play left back in the spl but up against any real class in the champs league Nani , Ronaldo etc with tear him apart due to his lack of pace , he would get a right roasting .

To be fair holy pope, most players get a roasting from quality like Ronaldo.

Does anyone know whether or not Celtic have any promising young left backs?

I think we have to be careful, it may be that Robson wants to play and WGS is saying I can get you into defense, as he is a good player and you want to keep his head up.

But I like this rotation thing we have and it would only take one or two injuries before you are required to use hartley and robson, I say if we don't neeed them keep them rested, they could swing a game as subs, and I think having them in the squad will be excellent for the younger lads, use them in the rotation, but don't star shifting them out of position if you don't need to.
There are a number of our defenders that can play at left back, try them first.

vs SPL teams we effectively have 5 mid fielders when we put pressure on them because Robson gets so far forward, and he can defend. I think we should play him there until we get a LB as good or better.

I suppose it makes sense, we use our left back and right back as wingers.
So what better to have Robson do both, ooh
how about hartley on the other flank he has done it before, against a team you knew you could attack against that would give you like a 2-6-2 in attack and 4-4-2 in defense

Wouldn't that make us vulnerable to a counter attack down our left side as Robson isn't blessed with a huge amount of pace?

Either him or O'Dea. I get nausea whenever Naylor plays.

definatli keep him at left back..much betr than naylor and dont want him in midfield anyway, left backs a perfect position fr him cos hes a great tackler and gets forward alot and has a great left foot to cross the ball

    Barry Robson is back

I have heard that Barry Robson is back and in full training and is raring to go for Sunday :celt_2:

I like Robbo, and I think we have missed him badly since he has been out.
I think Strachan will defo play Robbo in the middle, because he likes to get stuck right into the Huns. :58:
