I thought it was supposed to be a 5,000 capacity. I could be wrong. Also the capacity does not exactly correlate to cost. It depends on what type of stand your putting up what the costs would be.

I thought the plan was for something more along that size.

Great news and should really take our facilities to the next level. Agree with the sentiment about the second mini stadium. Would be disappointed to see the B team and women's team continue to play out-with a location owned by the club. My notion was something akin to St Mirren Park which has a capacity of 8k and only costs around 8 million.

Celtic is soon to have a brand new state-of-the-art training centre, and the Celtic TV cameras were granted exclusive access to the site as work began on the multi-million pound project.

The new world-class facility at Barrowfield, once the training ground of the Lisbon Lions, will be the base for the Women's first team as well as both Boys' and Girls' Academies.

Speaking as the ground was broken, Head of Academy, Chris McCart said he was delighted that work was finally underway.

He said: “This is the biggest investment and development since Lennoxtown and it’s one which the Academy is very excited about.

“It’s going to be a boost for all our young players coming through the club.”

New Celtic FC Women’s head coach, Elena Sadiku is equally excited that these new facilities, set to be opened later this year, will mean top-quality training facilities, both indoor and outdoor, for her team.

Having come from the English game, Elena is confident the new centre will bring Celtic up to the level of the top clubs down south.

The head coach said: “It’s going to be easier for me to sell this idea of how we want to be as a club, our vision, and help them to achieve something. It’s going to be incredible when it’s done.”

Celtic TV will keep you up to date with regular videos of the site as it goes through the various stages of development.

There’s definitely a ‘stand’ within the domed structure. It’s not big but it’s a seating area all the same.

A 5k capacity stand seems to be the most common figure quoted, though a few have said 3k.

    Who cares?

    Genuinely.

We don't have any idea how to give youth players long term careers.

The women team we invest in even less than the men's, proportionally.

For any other team, this would be great news but for us, the house is on fire and we're trying to paint the shed.

Spending millions on facilities for what is essentially a glorified amatuer team while we watch Bernabei and Taylor have a weekly contest to see who can he the worst left back in the league

Taylor is more than sufficient for the league, it's only really in Europe that he falls short

Don't think opinions on a forum have much to do with our league position.

So what, should we have just cancelled this project that's years in the making because things aren't going well on a park right now? There's plenty of things to whinge about, going ahead with improvements to infrastructure that are long overdue isn't one of them.
