I know there are a lot of "Mowbray ain't right for us" threads, but after checking the Celtic website and their past results, John Barnes' SPL record is better than Tony Mowbray's.
Shortly after a 3-1 loss to Inverness Cali Thistle, Barnes got the boot (2 days later) and Kenny Dalgleish took over for the remainder of the season.
Will another loss in the SPL be the final straw for Mowbray? Will we beat Morton?:56:
Barnes
P - 18
W - 13
D - 1
L - 4
Mowbray
P - 18
W - 11
D - 4
L - 3
Barnes' squad also managed to rack up numerous 4, 5 and 6-0 games and a 7-0 against Aberdeen. Mowbray's had nothing other than winning by one or two goals and last minute clinchers.
Have a look here:
First Team
Select "Seaon 1999-2000" and up to 27/12/1999 is 18 SPL games.

this argument has been presented before. Barnes had henrik larsson for half the season among others. His team fell apart only after winter break so ur comparison doesn't really gold.
We may be lacking something, but we have shown some good performances week in and out. -

Thats all hindsight Hendo.........nonsense,you dont know how any manager could do with this set of players. -
-
you cant really tell much from stas like that
both managers have different players and play different opposition(in terms of players not clubs) so i wouldnt read much into it -
His record might be worse than barnes,s but times are different, the calibre of player these days is different from them days etc
* the john barnes days
THE TIME FOR JUDGING WILL BE AT THE END OF THE SEASON
I have seen enough of the current squad to know he can take us forward:50:
He deserves until the end of the season, then we can judge him
we played good against the hunns we just couldnt finnish, we will get a striker in this month who can finnish, i assure you, he will also bring in a centre back, his signings so far hasnt been to spectacular but nguemo is decent enough imo and the big man up front seems to be finding his feet
fox hasnt been good enough imo, but is still young and learning
the manager knows what he needs and knows whos leaving as well.
1 thing is for sure he has been unlucky so far managing us, if his strikers and midfielders do what there paid to do>>> put the ball in the net, we would be top and would not have lost 5 or so games, tell you what are creating numerous chances and the strikers cant finish, thats not the managers fault but its january and can be rectified, i am just as * as everbody else about sundays result but imo we are much better than the hunns and are going to improve, so we will have our gloat at the end of the season, i have no doubt about it, we will be strenghend in january and will be 2009/2010 champions :50::50::50:Last edited by a moderator: Jan 6, 2010 -
I love statistics, you can prove almost anything with numbers.

Strachan left Mowbray a team that had been competing in Europe and winning the title.
No one that notable have left and player-wise, I think the team has only got better (with the addition of Fortuné for example).
Mowbray has no excuse tbh. I don't know, maybe he's not working well with the players or vice versa.
I doubt he'll be here next season and wouldn't mind if he left just now, providing we had someone ready to step up to the challenge of Celtic Manager -
not true .you have to mould them into a team. -
Here we go again bashing TM- give him time! May and the next 2 transfer windows are when to judge the man!
I know it's an old cliche but this season 'WE HAVE NOT HAD THE RUB OF THE GREEN'-
That will change!
The Hun will be on the backfoot soon!
GO ON TONY MOWBRAY!!!!!!! DON'T LET ANYONE GRIND YOU DOWN MATE! -
