Hope he proves everyone wrong. But i can see where there coming from, he can be deemed a flop simply because he is obviously prone to injury. No point paying a wage for a player who has picked up more injuries in under a year than some have in 2 year.

If Jelavic kept getting injured, only played a few minutes of football and did nothing in those we would all be saying "They said that Jelavic he is * he is a flop, always getting injured and been brought on as a sub and was *" so you have to understand where some are coming from.

Celtic striker Mohamed Bangura: I'll prove I'm not a £2m dud

MOHAMED BANGURA last night vowed to overcome his nightmare start at Celtic and be a major hit in the Hoops.
The frustrated hitman has endured a miserable opening to his career at Parkhead after a £2million move from AIK Stockholm in August.
Bangura arrived in a fanfare but has failed to hit a single first-team goal for Neil Lennon’s title-chasers in five long months.
Injury has also hampered the 22-year-old and although he’s appeared 14 times, just two of those outings, against Udinese and Hearts, have come from the start with Gary Hooper, Anthony Stokes and Georgios Samaras preferred.
Bangura, who’s been out for a couple of weeks with a knee problem, is now facing more time on the sidelines after he tweaked his right knee again in training.
The attacker will be sent to see a specialist next week to assess how long he will be missing amid fears of a lengthy lay-off.
Bangura, however, refuses to throw in the towel and is adamant he can fight his way into Lennon’s team for the championship charge.
He said: “I know that I have not been playing as often as I wanted but this has been down to some injuries. I’m happy at Celtic and I want to fight for my place.
“One of the problems for me is I am used to playing regular matches and I am not doing so at the moment.
“But I remain positive that I can win a place in the team and I am positive things will work out for me at Celtic.
“I believe it is just a matter of time before I’m fully fit and I start to play more regularly.”
Bangura was a hero at his previous club and AIK were interested in taking him back to the Swedish capital on loan this month.
However, speaking to sierraleonefootball, the attacker added: “That situation is false to me. I have not heard of such a thing and I want to stay at Celtic.”
Ironically, Bangura has scored four goals in two behind-closed-doors bounce games and Lennon believes he will come good.
Speaking at the weekend, the manager said: “Mo has had injuries and probably needs a bit of time. Remember, he is only 22 and I’ve got no concerns.
“It’s been claimed that we would want to get him out of the door, maybe on loan, but that is not the case. Like Kris Commons, he’s been restricted by injuries this season.
“He is working on his game to improve and he will definitely feature in the run-in. Mo is talented and will come good.”
Lennon, though, may face having to wait a little longer to get Bangura back into his set-up as he awaits the results on the jinxed striker’s trip to the specialist.

I'm liking his attitude in the piece above. Hopefully he'll get fit and come good. Good luck to you Bangura.

I feel sorry for this guy ... I do.

Every decent footballer deserves a chance.

I just ... question the signing in the first place. There's no space for him.

how is there no space for him ? we are looking to bring in another striker because we lack in that department, if stokes or hooper get injured who fills that role ?

anyways i hope the big bang gets fit and starts showing his worth, a goal would do this guy the world of confidence :50:

From the very little we have seen of Bangura, I think there's a bit of potential there. His movement is excellent, he's quick and got a trick or two up his sleeve. When he came on against Kilmarnock on Christmas eve, he held the ball up well and looked dangerous for the last 15 mins or so. His first touch needs work, and he doesn't seem a natural goalscorer, but some of the criticism is unfair, for a guy who's barely had a chance. Give him time.

I know they are only rumours, but have heard several people claim that the decision to sign Bangura has been regarded as a poor one from those inside the club and they are beginning to distance themselves from it.

Still think he looked class vs Udinese, and there's real potential there, just he needs a run of games, and we don't really have a run of games to give him where we can afford to rest Stokes and Hooper.

he has real potential, as stainseybhoy mentioned he was class when he came on against udinese, and also when he came on against Madrid, the problem was he came on with less than 10 minutes to go each time and never had a chance to impact the game

I also think he has potential. Problem is that while he is there and injured there is little justification to spend money on another striker. You cannot really justify spending £3m on a guy who doesnt play and keep him at the club, while spending similar money on another striker. Hopefully he gets fit and when given a chance he can prove his worth. I do get the feeling though that he isnt fancied much.

The guy is still only 22 and hasn't had a decent run to prove himself. Give it time and then judge whether he's pish or not.

I meant ... as an everyday regular ... there's no space for him.

As long as Hooper and Stokes are here ... I would assume that'll be the preferred tandem.

    I'm not picky.
Feel sorry for Bangura to be honest. He's come into the side eager enough but had just had a real bad luck run with injuries hampering him to try and break into the team.

I'll be honest and say that he's not really impressed me that much with what he's done but he's not really had a decent run. Takes players time to adjust and I think I'll try and reserve full judgement for when he's had a decent chance.

He's a young lad and he's maybe just trying to put too much pressure on himself to impress when he has played. Who knows but we shall see as time goes on.

Mohamed Bangura - Out for 12 weeks

Following further investigation into a right knee injury, Mo Bangura will miss around 12 weeks of Celtic action (TH)

We haven't had a chance to see him properly yet, hopefully once he has a proper pre season with us we will see more of him and what he can do. No point judging him when hes only played very little.

Virtually the whole season then. I somehow don't think he's going to get his chance any time soon.

Can we have our money back, please?

As a sign of good faith, Mo should offer to add an extra year to his contract for nothing.
