No, i don't think it's over either but we'll have to pay more than what we were hoping to i reckon...unless the board are willing to splash oot to ensure the SPL title this year.

i cant see us paying £4m for any player for the foreseeable future

so going by reports that puts baba and rhodes out of our league

a maritimo player and a huddersfield player

    which is a depressing thought

It dosen't sound good Maritimo & Huddersfield but tbh it doesn't matter who they play for..if their good enough clubs will pay and that's the problem right there in a nutshell....we don't want to be entering in any bidding war if we can help it.

If huddersfield wants 5 mill for a player we should get 20 for gary. * ridiculous how clubs toy with the prices on mighty Celtic players.

Don't quite get your china reference, I didnt state it was better than scotland.

Also, your delusional if you think the Celtic board will spend that sort of money for the fee, never mind what he will want in wages to play in the SPL, if he would even consider it now.

Fc Bruges have Baba also on their radar. Bruges are chasing Carlos Bacca (Columbian striker from Atletico Junior) ... club abd palyer did already agree but the club is a asking a higher price now. As a possible option they'll go for Diawara... (in todays paper 'Het Nieuwsblad')

I think bangura was a back up signing because we couldn't get damari or musona at the time.Think baba is more a target man type forward compared to damari or musona.Lenny was going for two forwards at that time.

Marítimo's president gave an interview where he said that Baba will inevitably leaving the club. He said that they received a lot of proposals for Baba but only will sell the player for a fair price and market value. Also didn't confirmed the names of Celtic and Stuttgart. He guaranteed that doesn't exist any clause in the player's contract which sets out a concrete value.

In my opinion, Marítimo's president is a trustful guy. At the time, he reported some irregularities that fc porto were occuring trying to buy some players - that's an awesome thing do to here, where everybody is afraid of fc porto's president (know as The Pope and The Godfather - he's incredibly corrupt with evidences everywhere but he's out there...).

just looked up that Knowledge Musona who we were so desperate to sign a while back, he turned us down and the plonker has only scored 1 goal since moving to the german league playing only 5 times as far as i can see.

Its amazing how many of these diddy players knock us back and go nowhere.

i can see diawara being the same if you chooses not to join us.

It's not really his call now is it, if we arent willing to pay what they want for him? And why do you think players (Musona) should pick the SPL before the Bundesliga?

Musona never turned us down. His club were desperate to push a deal through with Hoffenheim as the clubs were discussing a link similar to ours with Santos Laguna. So he didn't even get the chance to speak to us let alone turn us down.

And he was never going to be an instant starter for Hoffenheim (or us) seeing as he's only 21 and only had one full season in the South African league. So maybe a bit early to be calling him a diddy.

Likewise, Diawara won't 'choose' to turn us down because it's unlikely we'll have a bid accepted for him now. And I doubt he'll be a failure wherever he ends up. Only 23 and has been scoring goals consistently for a * team in a good league for 3 and a half years.

    Jordan KO for Lennon

    By DEREK McGREGOR
    Published: Today

CELTIC boss Neil Lennon is set to lose out on his top two striker targets — after being priced out of the market.
Huddersfield's red-hot Jordan Rhodes and Maritimo star Baba Diawara are being pursued by a host of other clubs.
West Ham are set to go back in for Scotland star Rhodes with a bid of £4.5millon.
And it has emerged Senegalese hitman Diawara is now valued at more than £5m by his club. Hoops gaffer Lennon has been tracking both all season.
But their form, especially the prolific Rhodes, has seen their price tags go beyond anything Celts can pay.
Huddersfield boss Lee Clark said: "I want the scouts to come every week, because Jordan is buzzing off it.
"He is absolutely flying, so the more the merrier.
"I am 100 per cent confident he won't be going anywhere.
"He is destined to play at the very top level and in terms of finishing he is up there with Alan Shearer and Andy Cole."
Meanwhile, Diawara is now being chased by Stuttgart and Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.
Maritimo president Carlos Pereira said: "We've received several proposals for the sale of Baba."

Can't blame Maritimo for adding £2m plus onto Baba's value the guys has been on fire this season, just very unlucky for us that we never got him in before the start of the season.

As for Rhodes, Huddersfield know that an EPL team will pay about £5m for him, so again we can't blame them for that. £5m is no risk to any EPL side, not in the long run any way.

I think we can afford them but we won't pay it.

Game over for Celtic I reckon :'(
