I thought that in August when we failed to get another centre back and a target man. Position of strength and we sit back and do nothing again.

    Really hope Jan is different.

I think Sammy is seen more as a LW now rather than a striker, so that would only be 4 strikers to keep happy which is perfect i think.

Hooper and Stokes, link up well together, will always score us goals. Bangura, we havent seen him yet, will take time for him to settle and be 100% fit after his injury. If we can add Diawara to that, even if Bangura does turn out a dud, thats 50-60 goals + for our 3 main strikers!

But there is always that nagging doubt with this board, no matter how good the player, no matter how good the deal, they just wont spend good money on what we need.

Mjallby - Maritimo striker Baba Diawra still on clubs's radar. Too early to say if a move will happen in Jan.

Diawara was also been linked with Celtic in the summer
Celtic assitant manager Johan Mjallby has admitted his club have an interest in Maritimo striker Baba Diawara.

The Senegal international is currently the top scorer in the Portuguese top flight with nine goals.

"He's been on the radar for a long time. We've seen him in the past," said Mjallby as his side left for Italy on Europa League business.

"We always look for players to strengthen the side, but it's too early to say if it's going to happen."

This week, the Madeira side's president was reported as saying that they had opened talks with Celtic over the sale of their £3m-rated frontman.

The 23-year-old Senegalese has played with Maritimo for four years, and his displays have attracted the attention of several clubs across Europe.

The player has also represented his country once at senior level.

So much hype surrounding this player... Knowing our luck, we'll either not sign him and he'll turn out one of the best strikers in the world or we'll fork a fortune out on him and he won't score a * goal :56:

However i'm gunna * if we sign him!

That's the reason I don't like signing African and Asian players. January is an important time in the season, it's usually when tables turn or leads are stretched etc.

    Hopefully tables turned of course

Will be astonished if this happens. He has been banging the goals in so am assuming his value has gone up. The report states that talks have opened is all. I think that we will know where we stand when we ask how much they want.

I think there will be an expectation that Neil will need to ship someone (s) out to fund this.

Agreed. Just looked at his stats and clubs. He hasnt done anything to suggest he is going to be a fantastic signing. Looks like we are pinning our hopes on another untested foreign gamble, a la Rasmussen, Bangura etc. We are still waiting for Bangura to perform...

If we are in for him ahead of the EPL or any other big clubs then there is a reason.

Of course. Because most the EPL clubs are all looking at 10 million pound or more players.

Whats the transfer fee on him look like? Wages? Honestly I havent been paying much attention to the speculation. I guess when he's sitting down at a table ready to sign a contract I'll be more interested.
