Rhodes is quality, but not too strong considering his height and prefers the ball at his feet! Baba is the big powerful target man we're crying out for... A sengalese version of chris sutton imo. Rhodes is a tall version of stokes/ hooper, don't think he'd offer us much different to what we've already got!

This would b my ideal signing but with us closing the gap on rangers and the current wage bill I just don't see it happening :54:

Should have done this in the summer, in stead of pishing 2M on the black Sebo.

No excuses, we've been failed again.

Not buying the work permit excuse either; business should have been done long before the window shut.

The work permit excuse was a lot of bollocks, not buying it either. It's clear as a day we pulled the plug once the Mo Bangura deal was sealed.

There is no chance we went into the last day of the transfer window actively trying to sign two strikers at a combined £6m+. No chance what so ever.

The deal was pulled in favour of the poorer/cheaper player, Bangura.

Probably about £70k plus a week in wages though

I believe the Visa thing, that didn't come from Celtic, it was Maritimo who said it, what reason do they have to lie?

Nah if his value is £7m now and Villareal are after him we can kiss goodbye. Might aswell close this thread now before it becomes embarrassing

It just doesn't add up. If Mo Bangura(Sierra Leone - Ranking 61) got a permit then why couldn't Baba(Senegal - Ranking 44) get one?

Not to mention the fact Baba has done a lot more damage in Europe at a higher standard. None of it adds up for me.

The Baba & Bangura talk only started rolling, say, 2 days before deadline day. Do you genuinely believe the board would sanction two deals at a combined £6m+ in such a short time period?

That's more than we spend in most windows these days never mind in the space of two days on two strikers.

7 million euros. either way it's too much for us. if it was us or the chance to play in Spain, i know which one i'd pick.

we may need to look at other options. we all knew it was going to be a long shot due to his recent performances. shame as he could of become something here.

Its 7m euros which would be about £6m and thats still far too much. Stv and the daily record saying hes worth £4m yesterday.

Baba will just be next on the long list of players we have been linked with and never signed and ended up the next best thing - a certain Ricky Van Wolfswinkel who we could have signed for £3m rings bells- who now has the best clubs in the world after him following his move to Sporting .

Obviously Celtic pulled some strings and made the Home Office cover their arses, right?
