You could have plaques with pictures of the great teams over the years that way you get more players involved, you cant have say certain members of the coronation cup team without the rest and thats the same with the Saint Mungos and Exhibition cup winning sides, and the 7-1 team, also a plaque of all the lions plus the players who help get the team to Lisbon like Brogan for example.

I don't think we should have Stein, Walfrid or Johnstone considering they already have statues. Apart from that all the Lisbon Lions, Maley, McGrory, McGrain, Larsson, Lennon (maybe after he's left). To be honest I'm not old enough to remember guys like Bonner or McStay but from the sounds of it they would deserve them as well. John Thomson probably as well.

Shouldn't have Kenny Dalglish. Fair enough he was a great player for us, but has been an absolute * to us as well.

Brilliant player for us. Deserves a small statue in this 'avenue of heroes' if it happens.. to be fair.

I think there will be space for 20 'heads' in this walkway after seeing the plan & pictures.

So it'll be 20 legends, not inc. Jinky, Brother Walfrid, Jock Stein and maybe Tommy Burns - as they already have statues/memorials.

If expect guys like Larsson, John Clark, Billy McNeil, maybe Lennon(?), Johnny Thompson etc.

And, yes, as if I'd forget about the biggest hero of them all - BOBBY PETTA. No doubt he'll have the biggest heed out of them all. I'm positive he stays inside Celtic Park. He's always there. Can't believe he was out walking with guys such as John Hartson & some of the Lisbon Lions V Aberdeen. He's living off one great game against Rangers. I bet he wants the stadium named after him too.

Seriously? I thought you were taking the *...

No Chance. Even purely based on his efforts as a player, there are many, many, others more deserving.

Harsh but true. His ego is massive. He thinks he's a living legend, and is using our club to promote himself.

Half time penalty kicks, guess who's taking the first penalty?
Heroes walk around park against Aberdeen, guess who's there?
(with his long, black duffel coat)

He must've done about 15 half-time pitch appearances so far, since leaving.

Ok, if he loves the club the fair enough but the guys head is enormous.

Sorry for taking this thread off-topic, by the way. Maybe harsh, probably should've left it for another thread...but I wouldn't be surprised if he wants a statue in this avenue of heroes. Honestly would not surprise me one bit.

I did mention earlier in this thread that, barring exceptional circumstances (like McCann or Henrik), a prerequisite should be 10 years service to the club. There have been alot of names bandied around in this thread, that are not as deserving as some that may not be instantly memorable, simply because more than a century has passed since some of them have graced the Parkhead pitch.

As much as we all respect Henke, at the end of the day he was simply a player. If it is to be renamed it should be to honour the man without whom there is no Celtic - wee Fergus. He saved our club, he built the stadium, implemented the financial infrastructure that has safeguarded our club's survival & set our club up for success for many years to come.

Henrik was indeed a great player, but he would have been a great player anywhere & without Fergus McCann there would have been no Celtic for Henrik to come to play for.

    Willie Maley for me.

As for the avenue of heroes...

Tommy, Cesar, Henrik, McGrory, McStay, Dalglish, Lennox, Murdoch, Auld... to name a few.
