Grew up in Hobart (Tas), but then moved to Sydney (NSW) for uni & work.

After I moved to Sydney I used to watch alot of the games with the Sydney City CSC at Scruffy Murphy's & the place would be full, even way back when... let alone on a Huns game, where they would have to use all 3 levels of the pub for Celtic fans, with so many backpackers etc coming along... and that was just one pub. There were others amd before I left there was also a Western Sydney CSC set up, and I believe some of the originals from the Sydney City branch decided to go back to the east of the city to Tempe, so there were always plenty of supporters groups there... and that's just in 1 city.

The stadium in Perth holds approx 20,000 and the stadium in Melbourne holds 30,000. Both these games would be close to selling out.

The game on Saturday against Central Coast Mariners is at a stadium in Sydney that holds 80,000. Would be lucky to fill half of that. CCM aren't based in Sydney, they're from a place one hour north called Gosford. A lot of their supporters are upset that the game is being played in Sydney when their 20,000 approx seat stadium in Gosford would be a sell out. You'd get a lot of supporters turned away at the gates if that were the case. You'll find there are a lot more Celtic supporters in Sydney compared to Gosford.

Going to be an amazing atmosphere at all 3 games. With all due respect to the Australian teams this is all about Celtic. Our supporters will turn up in their thousands. Only two more days until I fly to Sydney! Bring it on! :50:

4am is mainly for those midweek games. If it's a midday kick off over there on a Saturday or Sunday we get 9pm Saturday or Sunday nights so it's not all bad.

True, but one of the things I used to like was that on a Saturday night a game could be a real centre piece of the night. Have a few drinks in the build up to the game... midnight (or 2am) K/O, but usually around midnight for the Hun games for example, then watch the game... & then after it's over can celebrate into the wee small hours.

It's the midweek & Euro games that could be the real tester, lol... Getting the motivation to get your * out of bed at 3am :79: to travel to a pub on a Wednesday morning for a 5am K/O.

Yep... they were the testing ones, but well worth it. :50:

    Nice one, hail hail.

    Edit: Lenny just tweeted-

'Wow I just woke up and feel like I've gone 12 rounds with Haye AND Klitscho... In downtown Sydney.. Looks an amazing city'

If you're in Sydney why wouldn't you be going to the game? It's at the Olympic Stadium that holds 80 000 people... doubt that'd sell out

I notice the Perth Glory match is live on Setanta Ireland:

I can't find any coverage here though (only thing I can think is that Premier Sports are going to announce it)

Look out for that mad BBC ALBA channel too. They've been known to show some of our pre season games in the past, although obviously, they don't get advertised that much.

    Melbourne Victory facebook:

Celtic Coach Neil Lennon has decided to make Giorgios Samaras captain of Celtic for the game against Melbourne Victory on Wednesday July 13. This gesture is to acknowledge the tremendous size of the Greek community in Melbourne and to also recognise the family connection Giorgios has with the City of Melbourne.
