He's not the worst CB we've had in recent years, but he's far from what we expected at his price point (Idah the same).

He 100% suffers from being mentally bullied in games domestically.
He needs to sort that out and it will all come good for him.

Happy to have him next season, but we need someone as an equal to CVV with Trusty as the 3rd choice.
Even 4th alongside Nawrocki if we get someone else in.

Doesnt look like a great fit for us. Hes not very good on the ball, which isnt great when domestically our centre backs see a lot of possession.

Hes not the best physically in duels either, which is a vulnerability in the league we play in where teams tend to play direct at us and carry most of their threats from set pieces and direct balls forward or into the box.

Think he looks better in Europe, where the team in general is more collectively alert defensively and less likely to leave defenders exposed. And opposition teams do not play as direct or target 1 v 1 physical match ups.

He hasnt been able to dislodge Scales properly which I guess was why we signed him. So signs so far point to him struggling here.

I think your analysis is spot on.

We would be best to try and offload for what we can get for him, and get another quality CB in, this summer transfer window.

Should be one of the first guys out the door in the summer, just cannot see him improving any, he cannot keep dining out on a few decent Champions League performances.

For those who are in love.....
    He invites pressure big time..

Any time the ball gets played to him he takes far too long to meet it. He waits and waits....
and waits and before you know it, the forward is on top of him..

He'll never get the time he thinks he needs and it's concerning that we're at the end of the season and he still hasn't figured it out..

Definition of ball watching from him at their goal. Schoolboy stuff .

£6m for him. He’s not good enough. Punt in the summer. Weak as * and positional sense is abysmal.

He's had moments this season where he's been immense but he causes panic too often in games.

I don't think he's as bad as folk make out.

But I don't believe he's the answer long term. I fear CCV leaving this summer and if he does I'd be wanting a completely new CB pairing with him being probably 3rd choice.

He's shown he can perform in Europe, ironically.

Said in the match thread…it seems like a concentration thing for me. When he’s under the kosh he’s done well (Europe) but when he has time or only having to defend the odd attack he looks like he’s just watching. Also feels like he takes a long time on the ball. Not for binning him just yet but needs to sharpen up

I’d be inclined to move him on.

Think he'd look better in a team where he was asked to defend a lot more and not have as much of the ball, felt the same about Boyata when he was here.
He's shown he can defend very well against better opposition so maybe it is a concentration thing, which might actually be more worrying.

Still don't know what he was doing at their goal. Just about everyone in the game thread was blaming Schlupp, who was poor in the air, but it was Trusty that was ball watching and left Nisbett a free run at it.

He’s got worse as the season has gone on.

Really don’t see him as first choice, maybe 3/4th wouldn’t mind seeing him be sold and get someone else in to be fair.

I'm in the same boat as you.

We've seen how good he is in Europe, and whilst I don't think he's been as bad as some have made out, he's definitely not been great domestically.

I'd be happy with him and Nawrocki as backups, but we need another first choice CB in this summer.

Don't get the hate for this guy or why he seems to suddenly be 4th choice.
He's very clearly better than Scales as multiple UCL performances have shown, even if a few domestic performances have been average.
He seems a great match for CCV with left/right thing Brendan seems obsessed with
    No obvious howlers either...

What am I missing here, is he carrying an injury?
for me he should start every game.

In the last 7 days alone he has gifted a goal to Hibs by scuffing a clearance straight to Martin Boyle in the box , and then completely let his man (Nisbet) drift off the back of him for another goal midweek v Sheep, ball watching like an U14 player.
