Auston Trusty

Talking about passing the ball up the park, obviously he'll no have 100% success rate at it but majority of the time it's finding a man. He's also made the effort to do it quicker this season, after a lot of criticism last year of being too ponderous.

 

I presumed it was a tactical move: partly to cover for gaps Taylor was leaving (because Scales is a former LB); partly because he tends to bring the ball out more than Trusty does.

Worked on both counts - albeit we shouldn’t have to change CBs just to cover the LB position when we have a player on the park who is allegedly a LB.

 

Think it was his debut in the fixture, so that's taken into consideration. Didn't think he did much wrong but Scales brought the much needed intensity.. Our CBs need to drive into the space at times and Scales does that better.

 

Well it seems like Scales is back to being first choice to partner CCV. Surprising for me, Trusty, after a bit of a dodgy start, had been consistently very good. I don't get the argument of Scales being in for his ability on the ball either. Nothing I have seen convinces me he's any better in that regard.

 

Think with Scales and Trusty, it's very much a case of horses for courses IMHO.

 

I actually like Scales, he's done better than he's often given credit for, but I do prefer a settled back 4 when possible and I think Trusty just has a bit more about him.

 

So we spent 6M on Trusty only to discover he is no better than Scales.

 

Bit of a stupid way to look at it.

Scales has been excellent for most of this season, so has Trusty, and before the Cup Final Trusty was our first choice. They both deserve to start on merit, it's a good dilemma to have.

I prefer Trusty alongside CCV but plenty on here prefer Scales, it's great that we have 3 excellent CB'S

 

Folk complain when we don't have squad depth, then when we do have depth, we haven't replaced the first team player.

 

I would guess that Trusty and Scales will both get regular game time because they're both equally reliable and we need to keep them both match fit in case CCV gets injured

It’s not 6m wasted at all ffs Trusty has been brilliant but so has Scales.
Does it count as 6 million wasted only if the other option has been pish or not.

 

Not really sure what he did to deserve being benched. I think games like today would have suited him, when we’re up against it a bit.

We brought Scales on in the final allegedly for his distribution and it was dogshit today.

 

Gie him a puffing of the halers... and get him in the 11 pronto. Scales is awful. For a "ball playing defender" he's brutal. Weak.

He's been feeling the effects of the sickness bug he had apparently

 

If after today he can't get back into the team then he must be something far wrong with him.

I think he has class about him so hopefully this is him back in and staying in.

 

I didn't get why he was replaced during the final and I don't get why he's been left out since. If he doesn't start on Sunday then something is up.

 

Him and Valle should be starting now for the foreseeable.

 

He should be in the side from now on and Scales shouldn’t get anywhere near it again.

 

100% needs to start the next two games.
