One got killed not far from me today.

The roads here (Ireland) are not suited for cyclists and they should be banned from the roads.

Would you not agree that it makes more sense to upgrade the roads then?

Why encourage driving in a time where every country in the world is trying to cut emissions, petrol prices are going up etc etc?

Aye the guy's a total berk. He has, at least, apologised for his moronic comments. Better than most politicians who won't even admit they made a mistake.

Well yes that would be splendid.

Until they do upgrade the roads, then Cyclists should stay the * off them.

I haven't been to ireland since I was 9 so I can't comment from experience, but is it the roads themselves, ie potholes etc? Or is it the way people drive on them, or what?

I think they are still trying to push the $25 tax though, its only his comments he apologised for.

Maybe look to get your foot in the door via a volunteering role for a while, would look good when you apply for a position when one comes along next time as you will be known to them better .

Most roads are bendy wining roads,it is a pain in the hoop when you are driving along,go round a corner and there is a whole squad of cyclists you can't get past.

This summer is going to be a nightmare,i hatwe being delayed by them and it makes people try and do silly over-taking manouvres.

    More cycle routes needed.

Was knocked of bike in Aberdeen recently at a roundabout where the driver was paying zero attention to the road. (No major damage to me or bike) He was very apologetic to be fair but doesn't inspire confidence in cycling when this sort of thing happens, and something happens most rides in Aberdeen. Usually caused by impatient drivers or people cutting you up.

I would consider myself a good cyclist, (high vis, confident on road, all proper lights etc) but the majority of cyclists I see, and regularly shout at from my bike, are absolutely horrendous and a danger on the road.

I think you should have to sit some sort of test before you get out on the road so you don't cause such a danger to other road users. Something further than a cycling proficiency certificate you get in primary school!

I cycle, drive a car and motorbike.

Drivers tend to be impatient with cyclists, however some cyclists can be ignorant of needs of other road users and pedestrians, again lots of cyclists are excellent on roads, pet hate..cyclists on pavements, try doing it with a motorbike and see the resultant outcry!!!!

A lot cycle in London and it can be extremely dangerous.

I'm not a cyclist myself but I can see why people choose to in a busy city.

As long as they aren't jumping lights I support them and the need to education moron drivers.
