The way I see domestic attendances is that it is dependent on competitiveness. Our league isnt ,simple as that ,theres one club big enough to give us a challenge that's it and thats not looking likely right now.
I think if we were going into our next game a point ahead or a point behind a team that could give us challenge and we knew that,we would get 50k+ plus a game, no fan that has to decide between a season ticket to a one horse race and buying something there family or they need in everyday life is going to pick the ST , theres only one answer.but if it wasn't a forgone conclusion they might think twice.

Thing about insufficient investment depends on competivness. Lawell isnt going to spend big to win a league he knows can be won without any serious investment . Of course competivity doesnt guarantee serious investment but it certainly doesn't decrease the chance of it happening .

I think if a challenge returns the big domestic crowds will return with it but if there's no challenge expect more and more of this.

In terms of the Europa, I can't understand why we cannot get a few more in through the door. Tickets aren't really overpriced, maybe it's a bit of 'football snobbery' from some fans. Good enough to buy tickets for the champions league but Europa? Oh no, we'd never lower ourselves to that.

Watch the clammer for tickets when we draw Inter, Everton or Spurs in the second round. The Europa, for me, is more exciting in it's own way. Not because of the teams we are playing but because I genuinely feel we should be progressing. Whereas in the Champions league, we're only there for the dosh. I go to games simply hoping for an upset, not expecting.

In terms of the league the tickets are just too expensive for what we are getting. It's fine saying "faithful through and through" and all that but the average is about £25 for a game. In times like this especially that will put plenty of people off.

The fact we still average around 35-40k in a league like ours each week is still respectable. Yes we have high standards but that's a bigger crowd than the majority of places around Europe. Even if the atmosphere is rank alot of the time. Filling a 60k seater stadium or even getting 50k in for a game against St Mirren is unrealistic and those days wont come back for some time I don't think. If ever.

An English tie is the only thing that will do it.

We were never going to sell out games in the EL, for Gods sake. We'll struggle even in the knockouts, too. It's a nothing competition that should be eradicated.

Said it back when we got knocked out the CL, and so far, it seems the supporters are in agreement. Good for money and rankings, nothing else.

It shows the interest in the tournament. If no one gives a * about it across Europe then it is simply a nothing competition.

FYI, Seville cannot be repeated as that competition no longer exists. We are competing in a different tournament.

It's the exact same, just with a group and fancier name and it also gives the winner a guaranteed champions league spot..

They all give a * when there in it though don't they, as chelsea showed when juve spanked them out of the big one..

I'd love another run or 3/4 at this competition, means nothing to you then simply don't watch, you'll not be missed..

I go to all home games and most domestic away games but last couple of years the home games I almost dread they are that boring lol but I basically still go through a sense of duty but can totally understand why people have disappeared. I absolutely live for away days.

This. I remember in the early 00's having to go on a waiting list in my local CSC to get tickets to a St. Mirren match in September. It saddens me that on any home game this season I could walk up and buy a ticket on the day, to a half empty stadium. Unfortunately this is just the way of it these days for the reasons pointed out above.

On the EL interest (or aparrent lack there of), I reckon there are a lot of fans not going out of principe (or protest) due to the way in which we botched 2 attempts to qualify for the CL by not investing in the team.

I've never had a problem with playing in the UEFA Cup/Europa League. Don't understand personally why we don't fill the stadium. We're far far far more likely to do something in the EL than the CL. And we're far more likely to get pumped in the CL.

When we lose it's no conselation to me that I seen Celtic lose to superstars putting on a show. Would rather see Celtic do well in the EL than struggle in the CL. Don't give a * about our opponents.

Correct me if im wrong but the top tier is closed off by the club for the european fixtures. They want to create an intimate atmosphere. My local club Vancouver Whitecaps do this in their stadium (effectively) to create a better atmosphere.

I know Celtic have a history of frugality. But, I get the lack of investment this season. An unknown manager is a risk and letting him spend significant monies is a bigger one. We'll win the league and we're still in both cups and the EL.

I amn't watching Celtic these days expecting us to pump our domestic opposition but I am very confident in beating them and I think we'll do at least the double. Who knows about the EL. That depends on the draw.

Win the league and cup double and we've already made last 32. I think, especially if the muck are promoted, there will be significant (within our limits) investment.

If we won the champions league would you say it was the first time we won it, or the second time we won the european cup?

The Uefa cup is the same but just put in a different name and way like the european cup.

Cup winners cup is a different ball game.

Fed up with attendances chat tbh.
Don't get me wrong I've got my season ticket but it's overpriced end of. £25 a ticket for your Ross county, Inverness etc. Just not value and people simple can't afford it as there more important things than football.
Under MON &GS there "a boom" since then there's been a global recession, still is and coming again, a massive drop in quality, and simply people can't splash out on it.

Lower prices properly and I think you'd see a better turn out
