Losing in the last minute isn't matching a team and neither is drawing.

Only winning is matching a team?

I don't think we were unlucky last season. Sure, we'd have improved this season under Ange, he's a very good manager- as is Rodgers. It's not Rodgers' fault that there's little continuity and our recruitment has been... underwhelming.

That it’s a booking. And that’s exactly what he would get

Picked you up wrong mate. Aye too many just crumbled. I get the red card makes it a nigh on impossible task, but we need to show more resolve. As soon as the 2nd went in we gave up.

What the * can he say ?

McGregor's not the problem feel for him he's one of us a fan, he should probably get himself out of Celtic and a chance to play with and against some top players and teams to end his career on a high instead of this * pish and having to apologise for the board and managers failings

I think two things can be correct, Atletico were excellent tonight and have pumped far better teams than us, and we've also shot ourselves in the foot this season.

I wasn't expecting anything from this game, and going down to 10 men made it impossible, but if we actually recruited properly in the summer, I think we're still in the league Cup, 7 clear in the league and at least on 4 points in the CL, maybe even 6.

Now, Rodgers himself takes a large slice of blame for those early domestic results (We should be pumping St Johnston at home regardless of the squad), but having fresh players ready would have made a difference.

I'm happy with the manager and the core group of players, but if we don't back Rodgers in January, and actually strive to improve, then games like tonight will continue for the foreseeable.

That's what * infuriates me...I thought to bring Brendan back it looks like the board will match that ambition and back him in the transfer market...I should have known better .it was more like there you go Brendan some guys for you to do your best to improve so we can ship them on for a profit....we have probably about 11 decent players. The rest are bang average or just * with no hope of being regulars or even worse able to be sold. I honestly don't know why Rodgers came back.

Until we start giving ourselves the best chance to move forward in Europe, the money excuse doesn’t cut it. We will never know what success could look like if we don’t properly invest in the team, which we didn’t in the summer. Amazingly, people cannot see that. Baffles me.

    It's disgusting.

I'm honestly having nervous breakdowns every time I watch us in Europe.
There is no question in my mind that we can create a competitive squad to stand its ground in Europe, even with the resources we have at disposal.

They can offer the second best league in the world and life in a tropical paradise and the same language (most South Americans) or an easy language to learn (Brazilians). We can offer the SPL, as much rain as you want and the chance to learn a niche dialect of a difficult language.

So, a small club gets a freak result, as proven by Hammy's post, and we've to use that as a yardstick to measure ourselves against?

For Celtic he's been in charge of 15 CL games and won 1, seen his * handed to him more than once now were we have been spanked by 5 or more.

By sheer numbers he's had more games to do better. Ange had 6 games in CL and every single one of them were near enough contests where we were actually creating serious chances to score and get results only for the love of my life, but technically awful Maeda to fluff gilt edge chances.

Rodgers is awful in Europe and the scorelines evidence in that. He gets utterly battered at that level.

    You're point is too naive.

If you continually play a team, you're going to win eventually.

All teams have days where they're beaten by a complete underdog, too. It happens to all teams every season.

You've cherry picked a result. 15th in the third tier of German football Saarbrucken beat Bayern Munich last week. Should we be beating Bayern now, too?

A draw or a win. You succeed in competition by gaining points. You get nothing for 'having a go' or 'being unlucky' or any other excuse you fancy. We are not good enough currently for the CL group-stages. I take no joy from saying that in fact it depresses me but anyone who knows anything about football can see it's true. Lower league teams in England often take big scalps in the English cups but it doesn't mean they'd survive in the Premier league. We could compete at this level but lots of things must change.

Think we need to be looking into a change in tact going forward. We're still trying to do the possession football/fluid passing thing and it just will never work consistently at this level.

We have nowhere near enough height/power/aggression in our team which you need coming uo against better teams. It's the only way * can get joy against us domestically and it's the only way we'll have any chance of getting through any group in the CL.

I ain't the kind of greeting faced diva that will throw a tantrum when we don't magically produce a squad full of CL level players, but we really need to be working towards it over the next few windows. Nice football is great but we need to find a balance that doesn't leave us exposed like this in Europe.

Maybe unlucky is the wrong word, as it was our own wastefulness that cost us. But we weren't far off from looking like a decent team. Kinda been the same story this season, moments of hope but ultimately fall short so far.

Yeah, recruitment poor, hopefully can amend that in January/Summer. Needs backed

    The manger isn't the problem.

Guardiola would struggle to achieve much more working under that board and their 'sign 5 players on the cheap and hope 1 is decent enough to make a profit on' recruitment policy
