    * what a shot in the arm that would be.

Fingers crossed we’re competitive and at least make it semi interesting

At best a 1-0 win would put us in 8th in table but that’s before any other results are included.

I'm expecting very little to be honest. No excuse to start like we did against Dortmund and get embarrassed again but I dont really see a route to victory either. If CCV is back that would make a massive difference but if not our defence is bound to give away too many chances.

Would bite you hand off for a 1-0 defeat and a good performance. Win all our home matches and we easily qualify- that should be our goal - sneak a pont or three away as a massive bonus but not on Wednesday !

Got to be cleverer, lets not kid ourselves, the standard of Scottish football, the misses of the one or two chances the Aberdeen strikers had in first half yesterday were shocking yesterday, and we could still only manage a draw at home.

Just watching the Sevcoians hoping Kilmarnock win , but the finishing of the Kilmarnock strikers is shocking - my wife who doesn’t even know who is playing & never comments when football is on , lets me do my thing - said they aren’t very good / telling

I think it will be close. Atalanta to win by 3 goals.

For once, can we play a deep line for 90 minutes, and absorb pressure?

I was there in Rome , in the overflow section for Celtic fans without an official ticket, when we beat Lazio in Rome , it is possible but very very unlikely - we dream in hope but take 1-0 defeat and a good performance!!!

Hoping for a well played draw but think they'll take a few off us. I've watched them a couple of times and they are good.

Atalanta are a serious outfit. They play very aggressively and have the ability to really destroy us if we approach the game like we did with Dorrmund. They may even have the potential to do more damage. I don't see Rodgers changing from 4-3-3 but surely we should sit a little deeper and make it more of a 4-5-1. If CCV is even 80% fit he has to start this one.

    Schmeichel

    Johnston
    CCV
    Scales
    Valle

    McGregor
    Hatate
    Engels

    Kuhn
    Idah
    Maeda

If we get away with a 3-0 I wouldn't be too disappointed.

I would go with a double pivot of Bernado and Engels, with Idah the lone striker. And move McGregor further up with McCowan.

Play our cards right, and we could get something from this game.

Big week for us after this weekend. Difficult game for Aberdeen against United on Sat evening, hopefully DU can take something, Aberdeen win puts a bit of pressure on us for Sunday and Motherwell have been unpredictable so far so won't be easy. Can really see this game far enough to be honest, wish I was excited but I'm quite apprehensive. Would love a result but I'd happily take us not getting a hammering. We need to be a lot smarter than v Dortmund and not concede early, but can't say I'm confident. Will be watching from behind a few pints.

Unless Rogers changes his mindset we will get * if we open up against a top Italian team away in Europe, keep it tight and hit on break ffs its common sense

Pretty much in agreement with you there. I would even go as far to say that CCV should not be risked unless he is absolutely 100%. We are unlikely to get anything from this game with or without CCV so don't risk him he is way too important as we saw at the weekend. Besides as well us getting into the play off round is not going to be decided on this fixture which is probably the second toughest of the 8 league phase ones. Just give us a performance that we can build on thats about all I think we can hope for with this match

Just can’t get enough Depeche mode
If we go in with Calmac as the single pivot we will be lucky to get away a 4-0 tanking.

Need to try something new, personally i’d have a double pivot with Engels and Bernardo & move Cal into the 8 position.

We won't do it but for a game like this away, I'd like to try something different..

Maeda up top on his own and Hatate off the left but tucking in..

Giving us a more solid midfield and let Kuhn go forward and whoever breaks out of the 4 who are more central, Engels and Hatate..

Or Idah off the left and Maeda up top. Let Maeda give us that outlet that will worry their high line. Idah to peel off that left for the long diagonals and flick ons, whilst coming in centrally..
