I have similar feelings, tbh. Go to Hampden one week and sing do a dear or some other vacuous meaningless crap arm in arm with them then the next week they're over in the opposite stand singing about being up their knees in my blood. Pretty much sums up the reasons for my ambivalence towards the whole thing. I for one don't regard football as separate from real life.

I like to see Scotland do well, but I dont really give a *.

Scotland everytime. A large majority of our team plays for the first team and Under 21's. Plus one of them is our captain and touted to be a future Scotland captain sooner rather than later.

So is there any Irish teams you's support? What happens if the rival of your Irish team plays for the national team? Would you then turn your back on them aswell?

I'm Scottish so I support Scotland. And once a player pulls on a Scotland jersey I don't give a * what club they play for.

When Ferguson scored the equaliser against Italy at Hampden last November the last thing on my mind was 'Which team does he play for?'

last thing i want to do is argue with the doctor :54: look i like to see scotland do well but i cant really say i care for them when we have been the subject to anti irish stuff in the past and present and my family descendes from ireland and italy .... but i love the irish

Nothing wrong with that at all. If they're playing anyone other than Scotland I like to see Ireland do well. Not just at footie but rugby as well.

I understand the reasons for some Celtic fans not feeling a strong attachment to Scotland, but what I don't understand is the sneering from some of them at those of us who do.

no no i wasnt sneering i just didnt get some people saying i was stupid for doing it but in all fairness we all have our own opinions :50:

Agreed. I think its very possible to take the us and them division dar too far and let it become an obsession that invades every walk of life.

I think Scotland benift from the old firm rivalry in many ways, such as the standard of leauge to choose players from and such, bu the mindset of the players aswel. Most of our scottish players play in the SPL, which is continully written off as a diddy leauge for some old coddgers wanting a last pay check and the general dross that can't make it in england.

For most of the year the boys on the park are at logger heads with one and other but for a few weeks of the year they can come to gether and get the chance to show that their not that * and they can play abit.

I'm proud to be Scottish, and a proud Scotland fan, but thats only part time. Celtic is a full time love, a passion. But it doesn't affect the way it hink about our national players. Ofcourse I'm happy when a celts get in the team, but im proud of the whole team where the players be from celtic hearts hibs or rangers.

For the time they've got that scotland shirt on i want them all to succeed and play brillaint, but as soon as that whistle goes im back to wanting barry bawbag to break his legs.

i'm irish born, but living in the US these days. so, for me its ROI then the US, and then the Scots... when the scots were playing italy i was having a field day antagonizing all the italin people that were watching, they knew * all about football. I was watching right in the middle of tony soprano land, so there was a good lot of them too!
