New Bhoy Boruc to make jersey-collecting his Art

ARTUR BORUC is not just gunning for the Celtic No.1 spot - he also wants to be first choice for Poland.
As exclusively revealed in SportTimes yesterday, the flamboyant 25-year-old has joined the Parkhead club from Legia Warsaw in a £600,000 one-year deal which Celtic have the option to extend.
Now, after beating Southampton's Antti Niemi to join Gordon Strachan's green and white army, Boruc is setting his sights on climbing rapidly through the ranks with club and country.
Celtic will today allow Magnus Hedman to follow Rab Douglas through the Parkhead exit door, leaving David Marshall and Boruc to fight it out.
But while 20-year-old Marshall is ready for the battle of the gloves, 25-year-old Boruc knows he can't play second fiddle to the Scotland man if he is to oust Jerzy Dudek at national level.
He said: "I hope I can prove I deserve to be Poland's No.1 goalkeeper. This was one of the first things I considered when I got the chance to sign for Celtic.
"It is a contract for one year with the option of extension, so I am satisfied."
Boruc believes the fact he can understand English will allow him to settle in immediately, and having Poland team-mate Maciej Zurawski already in the Celtic squad is an added advantage.
He said: "Settling should be easier as I can speak English a bit and I'll also have a Polish colleague to talk to as well.
Celtic are not just getting a giant keeper, they are also getting a huge personality who is as frequent a star on the fashion pages as he is on the sports pages.
Designer suits fit him better now than they once did, his liking for hotdogs once allowing his weight to balloon to 100kg.
But, like his weight, Boruc has settled down and is happily married, though he still likes to catch the eye with his choice of garb.
"Everyone wants to look good, and I can't see anything wrong in it," he explained.
Whatever he wears, he is idolised by Legia fans. Boruc has risen far since joining the club from Fourth Division club Pogon Siedlce - his home town team - for 750 Polish zlotych, around £125.
Boruc started out as a striker but it was noted he was better at stopping goals than scoring them, and he knew where his future lay.
Mind you, if he could not stand under a bar he admitted he would probably have ended up in one, saying: "If I could not be a goalkeeper, I think I'd just drink beer with my friends."
Telling it like it is - that's a Boruc trademark, and it helped him become one of the youngest captains in Legia Warsaw's history as well as promoting him to the full national side where he has now won seven caps.
A big player in every sense, it was when he was loaned out to Third Division side Dolcan Zabki that Boruc got the taste for hotdogs.
Proof he's now a model pro is in the fact he declined a contract with a cosmetic company, or, as he put it: "I did not want my friends to laugh at me."
He is happy to leave the make-up side of things to his wife, Kasia. And, though they are famous in Poland, Boruc keeps it in perspective, adding: "We are not the Polish Beckhams."
Gordon Strachan will say thank heaven to that.

Some of this is bullshit but the article is highly entertaining so I couldn't resist

    nope, mate.
Dudek joined Feyenoord in 1996, and he played his first official game for that team in 1997/1998 season. And in 1995 he was only 22 as he was born in 1973.

sorry for not keeping with Artur Boruc topic, just correcting some misleading info :)
    cheers

the polish flood continues. Next is Legia striker Marek Saganowski going to Heart of Midlothian.
If you buy all valuable players from * polish league you'll get all of us in the package, because looks like we soon won't have anything left

Bullshit... 300ths euros for 1yr loan. 600ths punds is for definitive transfer

Another BS. Stating that they are famous in the country is far from the true.

I'm talking about Boruc and his wife. There are not a subject of numerous articles in * newspapers. Ask your girlfriend/wife and her friends what they actually know about Boruc wife? It is BS.
