Thats hard to judge if hes better cos he hasnt got any chances to show up at european level while in NT hes only been playing in friendlies so far. He looks pretty confident in goal and hes greatly improved over last two seasons. Signing him wont be risky cos hes very cheap and got time to improve... My point is that a guy who might be a star in mediocre polish league doesnt really appear to me as an automatic first choice for Celtic. Hes got no experience which Marshall already earned playing Barcelona and likes. this makes the difference between these two. My polish heart says Artur but Im a keen admirer of Dave. He'll be a class act within couple of years, if only Strachan lets him play

as a die hard Liverpool supporter for 12 years now (and a fresh Celtic supporter for weeks now :)) I will say one thing: don't get Kirkland... I remember times, when he was being hailed as next number one in England's goal, but he has never shown his potential, last season he had the worst shot/save factor in the Premiership, before he tripped and broke something.

Niemi is all round better keeper than Boruc - _for now_ - that will change, Boruc is a good perspective for maybe a world class keeper, but unlike Kirkland he has a chance to prove it, because he doesn't brake his leg every time he puts it on the sidewalk :) Boruc would be a good signing, especially that it would help both, Boruc and Zurawski with adjusting to new surroundings...

Again, Boruc would be a good signing, Kirkland would be a nightmare. that's just my opinion.

    Re: Artur Boruc

cant be a diddy if hes the polish no2 and is without doubt a better signing than niemi when it comes to value and age. personally dont think marshalls ready to be no1 at CP during his run in the team he lost to many soft goals, we need a keeper like klos or cech. a rock at the back, this could make a huge difference to the team and the supporters confidence at the moment especially with the uncertainty over the defence.

    Re: Artur Boruc

when it comes to polish goalkeepers there are only three names really: Dudek of course, Boruc and Majdan - but the last one is rather on his way to retirement than to international career...

I assure you - he's not a diddy, he's not as experienced as Niemi, that's understood, but was Cech experienced when he was coming to Chelsea? not as much as Niemi is right now, i think.

The guy is 6'6" tall and should be a lot better than our past lot at taking crosses especially against the Huns! We can't go wrong at that price.

wasnt disagreeing with you dilutism, was just stating the obvious as some celtic fans dont seem too keen on him. good point about cech. if the polish contingent turns out newhere near as good as the swedish its fair to asay we'll all be happy.

No doubt Boruc is good keeper but he has not been a world class yet maybe at Celtic he will become one who knows... . For sure Legia has the best polish keeper coaches but - Szamotulski and Kowalewski had been Legia keepers before Boruc both of them talented and expirienced at European area both of them tried abroad carrier as young players and have You ever heard about any of them??
I think It can happend to Boruc too:/ but it is said he is more talented than those guys I had mentioned above.

He is very good at line and in air but his weak side is playing foot.

From 3 potential polish sings I can say with all responsibility only Zurawski wont fail Your expectations guy (cooomooon Maciek) Boruc may turn into class player and Kosowski ... it would be the last chance for him to do something.

    Re: Artur Boruc

    Boruc in Celtic? Nice idea.

Strengths: Has a very athletic body. Controls the whole box well and gathers crosses easily despite pushes and pulls. Great reflexes and good agility. Still young as for the goalkeeper.

Weaknesses: Not a great one-on-ones stopper. Lacks in experience at the highest level.

Conclusion: get him befoire others do.

    Re: Artur Boruc

I've been to every Legia home game this season so I know what Boruc has been playing. I feel his last year was a bit better than this spring, as he had w few sloppy plays, but I believe it's because the whole team was in a small crisis. He's brillianty built for a keeper, got great reflexes and is quite brave. He can even score penalties (1 goal in the league).
He's not conceited or anything as I read here, what's more he's got a great relationship with the fans and is currently the favourite player at Lazienkowska.
He's simply a confident and aggresive player and a leader type.
Signing Niemi for twice as much is a nonsense. From what I've seen Douglas in the past, he could clean Artur's boots. I don't quite recall Marshall. I believe at Celtic Artur could turn into a world class goalie. Who's your keeper coach?

"Zurawski has decided to snub Turkish side Trabzonspor to move to Parkhead and Boruc's club Legia Warsaw are pushing for the Hoops to take on the 25-year-old as a replacement for Robert Douglas, now at Leicester.

Boruc is also wanted by Trabzonspor but Legia Warsaw would prefer to sell him to Celtic for £750,000."

OHHHHHHHH thats embarrasing Trabzonspor snubbed twice by the Polish. Have we lost the bidding for Nemi? or would Boruc be aswell as?

    Re: Artur Boruc

Celtic are in negotiations with Polish goalkeeper Artur Boruc but have made no offer for the Legia Warsaw player.

Legia's sports director Jacek Bednarz told BBC Scotland the club would prefer to keep him but admitted they would sell if they received a fair offer.

"He is one of our main players. For me he is the best in Poland," he added.

Trabzonspor had an offer for the 25-year-old rejected, while Boruc turned down the opportunity of a trial with Crystal Palace.

"The offer from Trabzonspor was not enough," said Bednarz.

"Celtic have not made an offer but they are negotiating with Raymond Sparkes, who is acting on behalf of Artur and ourselves.

"But we have now begun preparing for the new season and he is training with us and on Friday we go to a training camp in Austria and he will come with us.

"We need him because he is a very good player. Although Jerzy Dudek is the top Polish goalkeeper, Artur has the same level of ability, he only lacks Jerzy's experience. "However, if we receive an offer from Celtic, Trabzonspor or Palace that matches our valuation of Artur, then we will sell him."

what do we think of this then bhoys?

    Re: Artur Boruc

Today I read that Boruc is having a holiday in Mazury now but he's still waiting for phone from Glasgow ;-)
Artur is an excellent goalkeeper and I wish he'll join Celtic soon. Niemi is also a good player but not as good as Boruc. We, Poles, have always good keepers, f.e. Tomasz Kuszczak from West Bromwich Albion in last matches in Premiership didn't concead any goals and WBA avoid relegation. Anyway, Boruc should sign Celtic because he's too good for polish league. Only at Celtic Park he could show his tallent...

Artur's leaving for a pre-season camp in Austria tomorrow, but I guess that's not a problem in the negotiations.

Yes, but I hope Kuszczak will be the No1 in WBA, because he is a really good goalkeeper and he prove it with Man Utd and Portsmouth. Another polish keeper must show that he is better than Kirkland...
