Still wondering why Hamburg are so happy to release. I know they have been linked with Jelavic, but if they think Rudnevs is going to keep developing, they would be crazy to sell him for £4.5 in the current market. Must be more to it.

Just spoke to a German who thinks that the rumour doesn't make sense, as Hamburg are looking to add a striker while keeping Rudnevs. He thinks that the bid would need to be 10 million euros (in other words a silly offer that they couldn't refuse) in order for Hamburg to let him go.

So it's probably tabloid crap again, but you never know. Stranger things have happened. Can't see us offering over £5 million though (or even that).

Artjoms Rudnevs: Only Stefan Kießling (161) lost more aerial duels than Artjoms Rudnevs (156) in the Bundesliga last season

It is possible, don't know how probable though.

We were told earlier that if we identified a player we thought would be capable of bettering the team, the board would consider paying up to £5m on him.

That was before we sold Vic.

No quotes on that article regarding Rudnevs or the price. A lot of tabloid *. They are just plucking an old Celtic target and talking nonsense to sell papers. This is a guy who made a significant impact on the Bundesliga last season. He is not going to leave that to come to the SPL.

Artjoms Rudnevs will not sign for Celtic.

I wouldn't pay more than we value him at.

A £4.5m price tag puts a noose around the neck of a player at Celtic. People still harl back to Scott Brown's fee after being a really good captain for us and winning player of the year awards. If Marc Antoine Fortune cost £2m instead of £3.4m he'd be regarded a success.

Don't overpay for players, our support will slaughter him if there is the slightest possibility that he can't live up to it.

I'll be honest, I don't know anything about this guy, nor have I seen him play.

The guys (Lennon, Parker and Park) will know exactly what this guy is "Valued" at - hopefully if they think he's good enough to be paying that price, then we're getting him at under value.

I'll be honest, early on I didn't think Brown was worth £4m+ - looking back though, it's been a smashing investment.

Fortuné? Didn't like him - got some money back on him.

We need players in to get a "european class" team - i.e. REGULARLY competing in CL, and challenging for last 16 - instead of hoping to collect the cash, then being unconscerned about being cannon fodder.

Moronic view to take. We pay what we feel he's worth, not a penny more.
