Great energy and some nice touches combined with losing the ball too often.
Like a lot of what I saw, progress is definitely being made, albeit slowly.

Thought he could outmuscle Mcginn , few can. He read that play well and got there first , just lost the battle. Plenty of good stuff from him tonight though.

    I thought he played well.

I've seen mcginn do that to a lot of players. But regardless he does need to toughen up a bit.

Over the past few weeks, Arne has regularly demonstrated flashes of real quality.

Just need to be patient, until he gets the fitness to complete 90+ mins on a regular basis

Think that's the issue, McGinn does that to just about anyone, know your opponents. Naive

First half he was excellent. Not great 2nd half but not terrible either. Steadily improving all the time, would love to see him in a midfield with pace and power.

He's improving but still not near the price tag level.

Thought he was excellent. McGinn bit aside but frustrating thing is if that was up the other end I bet that ref would’ve given them a free kick. Couldn’t go near them.

Naive, should have fouled McGinn. Ok Scales should have committed the foul earlier but he needs to be more aware of the potential if he gets beat. Foul him and regroup.

He showed his quality tonight and also showed his naivety and perhaps immaturity. He’ll learn and keep improving.

It is but will learn from it.

I still blame Scales. Massive gap as a result of him being up there and not taking a booking.

We knew when signing him 11m doesn't get you the finished article.

I hate the price coming up again and again. Boring now.

In flashes showed how good he could end up potentially be, I still think he’s going to be some player when it all comes together.

He needs to impose himself more is the next step.

Didn't see the amazing performance Neil Lennon did tonight. However, did think he made an impact and did more right than wrong.

Can see he's a bit of a slow burner but he's growing into things.

Really poor first 20 min, then came into it and started second half well, especially defensively. But powerpuff for that 3rd goal, needs to man up and cut out silly fouls.

I think he has a lot of quality but also is inexperienced and his tactical awareness needs work. He needs to work on his confidence. At times he looks like he isn't sure if he belongs at this level.

Hm I think he's right, the price isn't irrelevant. His performances until now haven't been anywhere near that of an £11m player. Considering what we usually pay for players, you'd expect to get a bit more bang for your buck so far.

Engels might be worth £25m in a few years; in that case we'd have made a tidy little profit. But we've already made better profits from players like O'Riley and Jota who cost far less, not to mention Tierney, Dembele, Edouard, etc. Will Engels go for more than most of those guys?

Not only that, but I think it's crucial that our more expensive signings are those who instantly take us up a level, or obvious sought after talents. As it stands, O'Riley to Engels is a pretty substantial downgrade and we're a weaker side for it.

Obviously I'm not writing him off, but I think we all secretly hoped (and expected) Engels to be better than he has been so far, even when accounting for his age, first year at the club, etc.

    Nah I disagree.

He's done well so far and been key to us getting g through. He's already paid most of it back. As has Idah.

Ultimately he will make us a very good profit. Some fans are too obsessed with the money you'd think it was coming out their own pocket.

Also what you're saying there about them instantly taking us up a level is far easier said than done. Even at £11m that is not instantly guaranteed. You've seen that it'll get you a Norwich no2 striker, Engels was playing mid table in Germany and potentially getting us a 22 year old from Brondby. The market is extremely rough.

Your point also about players costing us far less. I could name 100 players who've passed through the doors of CP in the past 15 year who've also cost far less and been utter mince. So theres arguments for both sides and we need a mix.

Engels and Kvistgaarden are the exact level fans have been asking us to spend money on for a while. That "next" level type of project.

I don't think the club can win at times no matter what they do.
