As I have been clear i don't think he looks like what I would expect for a guy who played 50 games in bundesliga it's been very underwhelming, not scored 1 goal from open play. Few penalties but does seem to be able to pick out a pass. But jury seriously out on this guy, not what I would expect from our record signing from what I have seen so far domestically. Shown up well in 3 of the 4 euro games though

Massive exaggeration, by no yard stick did he have a shocker. I wouldn’t even say he was poor either, bit passive probably but overall alright.

Bit rough and tumble for him yesterday, Kilmarnock players always left a wee bit on the Celtic players (especially Arnie) and don’t think he liked it. Then you’ve also got the * pitch to contend with

I think he was on the side of poor but I do agree that "shocker" is way over the top, he wasn't that bad, just a bit underwhelming

Hasn’t hit the heights so far.
But he is only young and there was a lot of off and on the ball action yesterday.
Hopefully will come good just like Khun.

Ok, I'll rephrase to "possibly a poor game" then since admittedly I missed it.

The full team weren’t at it yesterday, nearly all of them misplaced a number of simple passes or layoffs but it was evident they were struggling to get to grips with the surface.

I actually think Rodgers got the midfield wrong and should have played the fresh legs of Bernardo and McCowan with McGregor knowing it was going to be about working hard rather than being able to play good football. Both of those guys have played down there before and played sparingly if at all over the last 10 days.

Even Kuhn who scored that great goal made a mess of numerous attempted passes/ through balls that he would normally make easily and had that great chance before he scored.

Whether Engels has been good enough or not to date is up for debate but I wouldn’t be judging anyone on that yesterday. If we were I would say Schmeichel is the only one who gets a good mark. Everyone else had moments of being short with their passing, out fought, hesitant and just not at it.

Hopefully gets a decent break, as he won’t play much for Belgium and comes back ready for another run of big games, starting with Hearts at Tyncastle.

Playing 3 high intensity games in 7 days is a big ask...especially when the 3rd one is on a * boxed in pitch and you're already knackered. Was a mistake to play him and hatate yesterday imo

Needs to get the finger out. We get he's young and may be inconsistent, but he's had as many bad games as good ones. And that's probably being generous.

He really needs to toughen up. For a big guy he doesn't half go down easy.

Needs to improve,he,s not imposing himself in games and not scoring enough from play.Like most on here i expect him to improve as time goes by but playing for Celtic in the league with the team he has around him id expect more from him especially considering what we payed for him.

    Needs a couple games out.

I'm not worried. He's showing inconsistency which I expected. However he won't get a pass from me forever. In the same instance though, think again people are being highly critical due to the price and hype which I get. But he should be afforded some time like any "project" signing. He's a higher level of "project" granted.

There's still some basics he's been doing wrong recent games. I still don't think we or even HE knows his best position.

Both Hatate and McGregor lost balls that almost led directly to goals.. and they don't seem to get the same criticism..

Think the midfield was wrong yesterday.. Bernardo should have started and McCowan should have been on earlier.. if not starting.

Just watched an extended highlight there.

Don't know what time it happened as there wasn't a counter on show, but it was from a kilmarnock set piece - Engels is man marking some black dude with dodgy cornrows - guy makes one simple move and Engels lets him run off for a free header, which luckily went wide.

Yet another example of multiple times this has happened so far this season. The guy is a total defensive liability, especially when we are defending set pieces.

We need to find his best position ASAP, and I wouldn't be against dropping him for Tynecastle.

I do think Rodgers needs to manage him a bit better, that's two games now where Engels shouldn't have started yet he's played him, and both times he's been fairly poor (Ross County and Kilmarnock away). There was no reason not to start one of McCowan/Bernardo (both should have started tbh, Hatate should have been rested too)

It's not like we lack the depth, we have both McCowan and Bernardo on the bench, both are excellent and both have staked their claim to start this season, same with Engels. The only guaranteed starter for me is McGregor, so there's plenty of room for rotation.

He's had more good games than bad, and I think you could let him off yesterday as that pitch is an abomination, yet despite his price tag I think he's someone we'll see properly flourish come the second half of the season, he is still a young player and a project, one that will 100% come good.

Forget the price tag it's mediocre in this day and age. Thinking about it with points accumulated he's probably paid off by now

Have a little faith in the fella he looks like he has the potential to be a smasher.
