It did. He said as much himself.

Hopefully we can negotiate the qualifiers moving forward.

It was a bit of a strange game. Belgium didnt want to play Isreal in Belgium. They didnt deem it safe with our huge muslim population. So it was in Hungary of all places.

Game was done when he came on. Just like last Sunday, fairly quiet debut. Nothing of note in good or bad sense. Belgian team was poor again, Tedesco is a bad coach. Should have gotten the sack after the Euro’s!

Do you know much about him in general, not judging off two bit part appearances?

Havent seen much f him tbh. Was highly regarded in Club Brugge youth. They were seriously unhappy when he left. Was going to be their next De Ketelaere. Left for buttons. Did well at Augsburg. Watched him
There only once against Stuttgart. Bizarrely he had to play LM. But Stuttgart absolutely ran amok that day. Augsburg didnt stand a chance. For the rest never really watched Augsburg. Supposedly he is somewhere in the type of Tielemans(who he did replace today).

Great to see Engels make his debut. Would you read much into him coming on ahead of Vermeeren? I thought Vermeeran was very much seen as the future of the Belgium midfield. A tactical change, good chance to get Arne his debut or is that really the calibre of player we’re looking at?

Huge moment for him and his family. Should be a massive confidence boost for when he returns.

Cheers mate. I’n so excited about this signing and all the noises around him is very positive, interesting hearing from somebody who follows the national team he’s a big prospect for by all accounts.

Tielemans comparison I like, he’s had some career so far and the only thing that has held him back from the very top level of players is his pace IMO. Because he’s slow as *, still one of those just below the elite guys though.

If he’s anywhere near that, I’m buying into it more than I already have.

Good to see Engels get a Belgian cap, will do his confidence a world of good, although he already looks a very confident player, even at only 20.

He has some physique on him, very wiry, fit and athletic looking. Looking forward very much to watching his developement in the team, he strikes me as a creative, holding No.6.

11 million is a lot of money for us but to sign a 20 year old full Belgium international for that amount seems like a nailed on bargain. His value can only go up and up.

I think all points are valid! We have great talent, Vermeeren is the future, however Arne is that too. Marketing wise Vermeeren is the greatest talent in midfield, thats why the coach took Vermeeren and not Engels to the Euro’s. But Tedesco got so much criticism for that, he chose name over actual game time. Engels has proven himself at higher level. Vermeeren made a huge mistake going from Antwerp to Madrid. Arne is taking step by step. Think a future midfield of Onana/Lavia/Engels and Vermeeren is a possibility!

Its funny how people in other countries see Tielemans. In Belgium we see him as hugely talented but lazy as *. He doesnt have the work rate etc. Never performed in the national team. If Engels performs for us and the national coach selects how he has to: performance over name. The spot is his(Engels that is).
