Your confusing Armistice Day with Remembrance Sunday, Armistice is an agreement made by opposing sides in a war to stop fighting, that's what the commemoration is for, that the war ended, nothing else

Daibhi is spot on. Millions of people died in the first world war for * all. It was a senseless loss of human life compounded by a pandemic of flu which killed even more.

The signing of the armistice agreement to stop the bloodshed is a very righteous thing to have reverence for. I have no issue with commemorating such an event.

The commercialisation and politicisation of Remembrance Day is a completely different scenario. * poppies and help for heroes. These charities are a scam.
