Me, none whatsoever as far as I'm aware.

I support Celtic since I'm Glasgow born and they're my Dad's team.

I suspect I won't be the only one like that!

I'm Scottish with no Irish connections whatsoever.

See to be honest, most of my mates are the same. I don't know if it's to do with what part of Scotland you are from or whatever but there is a * of a lot more on this forum who have Irish connections as a percentage than there is with the people I know.

I think quite a lot, probably the majority, of our support have no Irish connections or exaggerate the small connections they do have.

One of My Grans had 2 Irish parents, I think I have some other minor Irish connections elsewhere. My Dad tells me that my Great-Grandfather was a Rangers fan (at the beginning) and started supporting Celtic when he was offered a trial with Rangers and they started asking him about his wife (my great-grandmother,Catholic) religion.

His grandfather was a Orange lodge grandmaster as well, or a second-in-command. :52:

    I'm not picky.
No Irish connections here at all (well, that I know of anyway :icon_mrgreen:). Dad's side is Welsh and my mum's side is Scottish. I was actually born in England, but having lived in Scotland since the age of 6 (up until I moved to the States when I was 35) I really class myself as Scottish.

Supported Celtic due to mainly kids/friends I knew from my younger school days from about the age of maybe 10/11.

My family have no Irish connections, as far back as I know they're all Scottish (Though my surame does sound French). I was born in Glasgow and loved football. My dad and older brother hate football so it was really a decision based purely on which team I enjoyed watching. Even though Celtic didn't win anything when I was growing up, other than 1 Scottish cup against Airdrie, I found myself supporting them. There were only about three of us in my school at the time which made it even sweeter when we eventually won the league and I brought my Celtic scarf into school to wind all the huns up.

Unfortunately my parents wouldn't let me wear a Celtic top when I was young through fear of sectarianism. I remember telling my mum how much I hated Man United, but she clearly wasn't listening as my first football top was a Man U one. Worse still, it was a grey one that the first team wore once and then got rid of cause they claimed they couldn't see each other on the pitch :56:

My Fathers's side came from Ireland,my Gran's maw and that were Irish apparently. My Maws side are most likely from Scandanavia somewhere, given the name, and we have relatives buried in Barra, they must've stopped there for a while en route before settling where we are now.

Not that ancestry has anything to do with why I support Celtic anyway.

Me, I'm half Scottish, half English. All my dad's side of the family are Scottish, as far as I know there's no other nationality in there, same goes for the English on my mum's side.

The majority? surely not. Celtic is an ambassador for the Irish diaspora in Scotland, this being the reason which neutral supporters may find it hard to relate themselves to the club as the clubs original fanbase were overwhelmingly Irish Catholics. Then these Irish Catholics bred and passed it down to their children etc etc.

Yea I doubt it's the majority. I'm half-English, half-Scottish with both grandparents on my Scottish side being Irish immigrants.

Can you explain your reason of why you think that when a huge number of Scots have a Irish ancestry in the last five generations? Believe it is 1/3 in Scotland.

I have none what so ever but because I'm a celtic supporter, I feel close to the irish.

I was born in America as * know? My dad who's american is athiast and my mum is a * but never cared too much about it. My granny and grandpa were both major old school proddies. I remember when I moved to scotland at the age of 5 n my grandpa tried taking me to ibrox, all I can remember was looking at the clock and kept asking "when does it finish?" We stayed with my grandparents for about a year, enough time for my grandpa to try n convert me but he didn't too much from what I can remember. Well we eventually moved to whitecrook and I grew up there and aww ma mates were celtic fans so I became a celtic fan. I was never interested in rangers, maybe I could smell the scum off them at such a young age lol

My grandparents resented me for being a celtic fan. Always trying to tell me what they stood for and feiniens this and feiniens that, blah blah blah shut it granny !!

My grandpa wouldn't let me in their house if I was ever wearing a celtic top. "Your no coming in wae that ya wee feinien bastart" How * up is that?!?

Not an Irishman, not a Catholic, just a bloke who loves the Glasgow Celtic! That's what I love about our club, we are all welcome, regardless of where were from or what colour we are.
