Anthony Stokes

He looks a yard or two quicker to me.

 

I am really starting to get * off for Stokesy, if we aint playing well, he gets subbed ahead of diddys like Sammy, if the rangers game comes round he gets dropped, when he's proved for hibs he can score against them, He really needs to start getting the respect our top scorer deserves, play him up front(not wide where he's lost) and play him all the time, i think he would score loads and his confidence would be sky high

Reliable goalscorer, I'd say he's more consistent than Hooper.

Definitely not a winger, would've been better with Samaras up front.

 

I'm certain he'll start against them this season. I've said in other posts I don't think he was being left out last year for footballing reasons.

 

Agreed his attitudes spot on now but I'd think and hope deserves his chance

 

stokes can only play as a striker , his first touch is shocking at times but he can put the ball in the net even i can see that.

 

He was brutal last night, out of position or not, and doesnt seem to be able to play without hooper.

Most of his goals come from link up play, ask yourselves when is stokesy posted missing, yes correct when sammy plays, we all know why!!!!!!!!

 

Felt sorry for him lastnight we all know he's a good player but he's wasted on the wing.

 

For me it was Stokes at fault last night, not Sammy. Stokes was incapable of reading the game, lacking in concentration and out of position. Only one of those factors can't be blamed on the player.

Also you mention confidence in your OP. From what I've read/watched of "Stokesy" confidence is not something that he lacks in any respect.

 

I dont understand why play our best striker who is more likely to score than anyone else out on the wing where it can be shown hes horrible there, if your going to do that rather you bring in forrest or mccourt to play there.

All of them in the wrong position, so fustrating, if we played our 442 we would of won they were nothing special

 

you watched a different game to me then pal, i'm not stating Stokesy is perfect, but he has a better touch and better finishing, by confidence i mean knowing he will get rewarded for his goals by staying in the team and getting a good run, but answer this, if a snapshot fell to either of them who would you hope it would be ??

 

Stokes if played through the middle like a striker should be, would have scored last night IMO.

 

Agreed. I am sick of Lennon pulling Stokesy off and leaving other diddies on the field who couldn't hit a coo on the * with a banjo. I have to admire Stokesy's discipline and restraint under such provocation from Lennon. If it was me I think I would throw my jersey in disgust at Lennon if he dozen't stop this singling out.

 

Sammy was far better than Stokesy last night! He won everything in the air and Stokesy was knowhere to be seen, too busy hugging the touchline when he should have been playing through the middle & feeding off the knock-downs!!!

 

stokes has been carrying hooper for a while now so thats total bull * !!!

 

He must play in the center WITH a partner.
