Hi butch, no you do not,.......two games that lost us the league IMO.

are you blaming the partnership of Stokes and Hooper on that?

Maloney and Mccourt, who are both ball-at-their-feet players, wouls have done no better on those quagmire pitches.

glad you both are now picking up the pace, ball players actuality start to shine when the conditions under foot are not the best, with having more control, he has the plodder, blowing out his *, in tight defenses he can with his ability hold the ball, or deliver it to open space. unskilled as Hooper and Stokes in the same conditions lead with there Heads down and going forward they do not have any option but to drive at goal they don't look about to make a pass, as they cant, take there eyes of the ball at there feet.

If I have read that correctly, and you are saying that ball players are able to control the ball better on worse pitches........then you my friend are totally insane:56::56::56::56:

And back on to stokes. He's still young, just needs the right guidance. No doubt he has talent and I personally think he gets too much stick coz of how long he has been playing. He was at falkir when he was what, 18?
Give the lad a break and he will get better. Had a good scoring record last season and top assists.

You see attitude being brought up all the time when discussing Stokes but tbh when watching him on the pitch I don't see this rotten attitude which everyone speaks of. All I see is a guy knocking his pan in for the good of Celtic Football Club.

If he was selfish then he wouldn't have formed one half of a very good striking partnership, nor would he have made the most assists for us.

Anthony Stokes is more clinical and has more to his game than either Hooper or Samaras in my opinion.Stokes had formed a wonderful goalscoring partnership with Hooper, then for some inexplicable reason, Lennon decided to break the free flowing duo up, an error of judgement on Lennon's part, which I am convinced cost us the League and CS Cup.

Yeah, I wish people would lay off Stokes when we've no idea how he is off the pitch. Who's to say what kind of professional he is? He's done the business for us on the park and that is all that matters. Slatting him and saying you'd like him to leave is just mean spirited and unsporting.

have a look at, the worse condition on a football pitch you can find Celtic play in, and have a look at MC court or maloney play, also the top player for me, in the mud was "Naka", and you will not find any better in those conditions, surprise surprise:50:

For me Stokes can be fantastic one week and the next week he can be really off, he blows hot and cold too often. But on his day he is top class. However I think we do need another striker, Hooper and Stokes are my top two but when you look at the back up options we have Samaras and Murphy and I just don't feel they are good enough and Samaras is far too inconsistent.

If Stokes or Hooper were to get injured or even both we would be relying on the other two and that worries me, i feel we really need a good striker to come in and challenge Stokes and Hooper for the first team places and also be a top quality striker when one of them is injured.

We also have Maloney and I know he is fit at the moment but I'm sure again it won't last long.

    Don't talk mince ya maniac:56::56::56:

for a start, telling me to look at Maloney during a game is like telling me to look for aliens:rolleyes:

Naka was good on pitches like ICT, Motherwell etc. But he was clearly best at Parkhead - on the bowling green which is our pitch.

Are you telling me that a guy like Messi etc are better players on * pitches as they are on perfectly flat surfaces?:rolleyes::rolleyes::56:

that is correct, as good players with ability, as i have been telling you, can play in anything, and as you have had it mention, even in a (phone box.) Stokes is good, but must learn to run with his head up as like Hooper, in all conditions.

Finally, a straight answer that I can slightly agree with.

Even though Stokes has a great assist record, and links well with Hoops, he still has that we selfish streak were he should be lating the ball off, rather than hitting timid shots with his weaker left foot.

Stokesey polarises opinion to a certain extent. There's folk who just hold it against him that he is not the ultrafocused model pro type, and goes on a bender every now & then. But equally there's others who dote on him because of his perceived ubertim background.

For me he is talented, but inconsistent. And in the SPL - sadly - consistent is more important than talented. Pretty much whoever we play in the league, our players will be considerably more talented than theirs. It's not lack of talent which will drop us points, it's lack of consistency, unpredictable attitude, and occasional failure to wire in completely to the team mentality.

I'm happy with a Hooper / Stokes partnership, but I think we should also be on the lookout for a striker who has talent and consistency.

He's no ubertim! He was asked who we played in the '67 final and he didn't know the answer :56:

We definitely need another striker, although Stokesy will still have a big part to play next season IMO.
