    Is he chancing his arm or are the club?

    I have zero insider knowledge but reading between the lines I'd reckon the club will be either trying to sign him on reduced terms or similar.

    Unless anyone has inside knowledge on what he has been offered, I think it is hard to judge the guy.

    I would be very sorry to see him go, comes with a guarantee of goals.

    I reckon - and I'm having a wee guess here - is that the club are offering him very similar terms to what he is on just now - bearing in mind he was signed from Hibs, he won't be on a helluva lot compared to the other big-earning first team members.

    To let him go would be a mistake. We will probably lose Hooper so Stokes will be very important next season, in the SPL anyway. We won't be getting Russell now it seems either.

    I was under the impression we had an option to automatically give him a 1 year extension, so has he rejected that extension or have we offered him an entirely new deal and he's rejected that?

    I can understand and accept him wanting more money but he needs to be careful what he wishes for. Lawwell will not be patient with him whatsoever, and I would hate to see Stokesy go for free. Whether you like him or not that would be terrible from both a footballing and a business point of view.

    He'll never play at a higher level than he does now

    If he leaves Celtic it will be for a Grimsby or Yeovil

    It's down to how much Lennon rates him and that isn't very highly, I dought he will be 1st choice and that's a shame after the effort and quality he has out in, so stokes will be asking how he features in lennons plans and he won't be getting anywhere near the same as the top earners so he's proberly said no hoping for a better offer.

    Utter bollocks. If Stokes turns down the contract and is available on a free he will easily get a top Championship club, if not a premiership one.

    Only thing he's had going for him was linking up with hooper who might ... infact DEFO leaving in the summer.

    Well mind you the transfer window doesn't open till august 1st so if we can win the 2 qualifying games with our current squad before the 3rd game, it means our game on the 7th of august might give our players hope of getting to the CL group stage and make them stay at the club. This is my conclusion anyway.

    Wishfull thinking at its best ?

    I assume you are being sarcastic in the choice of those 2 clubs while he probably wont play at a higher level he will play at a higher level than them :bbpd:
