I don't think anyone can complain that Samaras started tbh. He's done well in the role against the huns this season.

Stokes and Hooper are on fire though as a partnership, so he should be unhappy not to be starting, or at least getting off the bench.

    Agree with Paul.

Think this thread is more down to your hatred of Samaras than any unfairness to Stokes in all honesty.

I still think the partnership should be Stokes and Hooper (even although Sammy played better than Hooper yesterday but he just doesn't score enough), I would have brought Stokes on for Sammy rather than McCourt for Commons yesterday and he should be upset that he didn't get on. I suspect if Rogne wasn't so poor and had to be subbed then both McCourt and Stokes would have gotten on.

I can see the logic behind Samaras starting the game yesterday. What I don't understand though is how Samaras and Hooper were allowed to play the whole 120 minutes yesterday. They were both poor so if ever there was a time for Anthony Stokes to be brought on, yesterday was it.

Stokes must have been sitting on that bench watching Samaras and Hooper having nightmares and thinking "how bad to these guys have to be for me to get a chance?".

I don't understand Neil Lennon's apathy towards playing Stokes against Rangers. :43:

    You're wrong there.

This thread is purely about the fact that I think Anthony Stokes has earned the right to a place in the team when we play Rangers. It's totally unfair to watch him smack in goals against all the other SPL teams then dump him when the biggest game of them all comes around.

i dont hate any tic player and will them all on all the time, but a player who decides to play every 1in5, should not be played ahead of our top scorer in a major final

He should have been brought on far earlier than he was, the game was crying out for something fresh up front because Samaras and Hooper wasn't working.

Sammy is living off his performance in the new year game.he has played reasonably well in the Huns games since but he just doesn't score enough goals.time to try stokes against the Huns or go 1 up cos sammy and hooper aren't doing it together

    That's hardly surprising.

Samaras has played up front with Scott McDonald, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, Marc-Antoine Fortune', Robbie Keane, Morten Rasmussen, Gary Hooper and Anthony Stokes. He hasn't forged a partnership with ANY of them.

Personally I don't think the guy is capable of forging a partnership. He's an individual, a bad individual.

Stokes wouldn't have had a sniff at goal yesterday.

He would haved linked up with hooper more which would have brought him in the game.

Testicles. When Stooper are upfront they run amock, they need the oppurtunity to do some hunskelping.Stokes will be hungry now to prove what he's capable of against the pigs.

Hooper was terrible yesterday. Samaras at least got involved. Stokes just isn't celtic class. Don't kid yourself guys, he will get punted back to Hibs in the summer.

Now that we have given Sammy a contract it is time to sell him. Stokes has done very little to justify being dropped. The sun was quick off the mark on this story, I wonder how true it is.

Our top goalscorer isn't Celtic class? Not really following the logic there. :43:

He's better than Sammy anyway, much better.Stokes does his job-scores goals.Top scorer fs/Why we have Sammy still actually playing for us is just beyond most people.

Bottom line is Stokes will score goals, Sammy won't.

With Stokes on, hooper wouldn't have been so isolated and Stokes would always be looking to link up with Hooper, Samaras again doesn't do that, he often turns away from a pass or dwells and the oppurtunity to pass is removed.

Samaras is a complete enigma, but we can't depend on that. Stokes and Hooper had forged a good partnership and they were looking dynamite and then Lennon broke that up to play Rangers.

He now relies on Sammy like a crutch in these games and he just isn't capable of linking up with another forward.

Time to go back to what was working best for us and that was Stokesy and hooper up front and i think Commons should have his * planked on the bench for the next game and get wee Forrest back in. Commons drifts in too often and when Izzy tries to come forward he ends up with no one to link up with as Commons has floated inside.

Dont get this mate ,Not Celtic class when he is out top goalscorer and is one half of the best partnership in the League ,Hooper is taking pelters on this Forum from last night because he was'nt involved ,he was crying out for Stokes as Sammi is a loner on the pitch and often does his own thing on the ball .Stokes at least should have been on with 30mins to go while Celtic were chasing the game .

Stokes was warming up but Loovens gets the nod and replaces Rogne when Celtic needed a goal ,does'nt add up and Stokes is right if true to be * off sitting that game out.

This is just the usual pish because we didn't win. Stokes should shut up, he's shown himself up and if I was Lennon he would be gone, the manager must command respect. Stokes hasn't played against the huns because Hooper is a better player and Sammy has been tremendous against them. It's a team game and he should act like a team player.

I do agree that he should have been on at some point in a ideal world but you only get three subs and in my opinion Lennon picked the right ones. The main reason we lost yesterday was that we had a makeshift defense and this is the area we really need to spend money on in the summer. The biggest thing to * me off is this public outburst by his dad, what a joke?
