The problem does not lye with our board, rather the over inflated market. This is further compounded by the fact managers select players, not the Board.

Sometimes the Board sanction a deal and get it wrong, but in the main, they get it right.

Lubo springs to mind, and who was that other guy, name begins with H?........:bbpd:

Stokes has a proven track record in our league whereas none of the other players you've mentioned have anything.

We didn't buy him for 500k because Lennon wasn't our manager therefore couldn't instruct the board to go buy him. There are very few strikers available for the sort of money it would take to buy him that will guarantee 20+ goals a season.

do most of u guys just not want stokes coz he turned us down a few seasons back?
theres guys sayin we should of kept mcgowan and hutch instead of goin for stokes.
there is no comparison with mcgowan or hutch against stokes.
stokes is pushin 40 spl goals in just over 50 games. while mcgowan has 1 spl goal in over 20 games and the last 2 clubs we loaned hutch to he has scored 2 goals in 20 ish games between them. stokes will score in the spl. he has proved it with falkirk and hibs. the only difference is he will score more for us coz were better and he will have better players around him. people might think he's a *, but at the end of the day id say most footballers are. so * it,if we can get an spl goal machine for a million or so, whats everyones problem.

Anybody else confused as to why Trappatoni picked Sheridan over Stokes for the Ireland squad this weekend? I mean both played in the SPL last season and I think it's rather clear who the better player is.

I've been impressed with Lenny's signings so far, only one i'm not sure about is Mulgrew but don't feel it's fair to write him off after 3 competitive matches

What i'm trying to say if you, like me, think Lenny has done well in the transfer market then trust his judgement with Stokes, give the boy a chance to show us he is the proven SPL goalscorer he has shown with Falkirk and Hibs

I wouldn't mind Stokes, just felt that we were going to broaden our horizens. End of the day, is he better than Fortune? Is he better than Sammaras? Yes.
I feel he could be like our answer to Skippy. We signed him when he was 23 and his record wasn't as good as Stokes so I think he could do the damage. Not like we need someone who can do it in Europe is it?

Scottish Prem Without Old Firm 10/11 Win Outright: Hibernian 11/4
Hibernian have agreed a deal with Bristol Rovers to sign former Scotland Under-21 international striker Darryl Duffy on loan until the end of the season.
The player will start training with the Leith club today while registration and international clearance is confirmed.
The ex-Rangers, Falkirk and Swansea hitman, 26, told Hibs' official website: "I am delighted to be joining Hibernian and can't wait to start training with the boys first thing this morning.
"I obviously know just how big a club Hibernian is, and have been really impressed with the training centre and the completed stadium.
"I know the gaffer well, and the style he wants to play.
"I'm just very excited to be back in Scotland and am looking forward to playing in the SPL again."
Manager John Huges, who is bracing himself to lose Anthony Stokes to Celtic, said: "I know Darryl very well and he's everything you want at your football club.
"He is experienced, but I also think he's still got his best years ahead of him, and will give us more options up front.
"He loves getting in behind defenders and has scored goals wherever he has played.
"He's a great addition to the squad and I'm delighted he'll be here at Hibernian helping us push on this season."

He will be skippy mk 2 , come from a lower league team with many people writing him off, he'll score about 25 goals in his first season and will become a fan favourite
