You can argue the merits and demerits of any of the forwards all day long, but the return on the amount of chances created this season is very poor.

Aye, good point. :smiley-laughing002: Rogic I suppose and the loan guys make it look worse than it is.

That's what I mean though. If we assume the likes of Pukki, Balde, Fridj will be sold or loaned out again next year. Rogic and Derk sold or loaned out, Wakaso, Tonev, Denayer, Guidetti moving on then it leaves our squad very very bare.

I don't think we can afford to lose any more than that.

Rogic will be on relative peanuts.

Wakaso and Tonev will be non-entities soon.

Boeriggter is probably the highest earner of our "misfit" players on the books. As much as I'd like to see a fit-Derk given a chance, we'd probably be better off looking to move him on, but like I say, who's actually going to WANT to buy a serially-injured guy?

Our squad is still one of the largest in British fitba (I'm sure). We NEED to trim the unwanted fat, and become a leaner squad.

    A winger, most likely.

I don't think it's right to say just because we have players worse than Stokes we can't sell Stokes. By that logic, we'll knock back offers for Pukki until Boerrigter's been sold!

Also, the 'we'll struggle to replace a player as good as Tony Stokes!' argument is nonsense. Stokes only shows up in SPFL games. As far as big games goes, he's been good in some domestic cup games and that's it. He was hopeless against Sevco and has always been non-existent in Europe.

So we're looking for a player who will be a squad player, perform in the SPFL and perform in domestic cup games? At worst we could sign the best SPFL player available and they will do that. In fact, the 2 we signed in January are already ahead of him in the pecking order and have already shown more in Europe :smiley-laughing002:

Take the £2m, roll the dice on a young promising SPFL player. At worst, they'll fill that 'squad player for SPFL games' void you all think we'll have

well maybe ronny thinks he can do a job there, why bring some one in in direct competition with armstrong, who may demand a fee, to compete with armstrong, who we have all ready paid a fee for,and then have to settle down, if stokes is happy to be a bit part player, problem solved, then the ball would be in stokes court, if he has happy to be a bit part player.

I could count Stokes' bad games this season on one hand and most of them were on really awful surfaces which hampers Stokes game more than most.

Earlier in the season, without Stokes we had no creativity in the squad. With Stokes we were creating chance after chance (1-0 fir park for example) and with Stokes out of the squad we seriously lacked imagination (0-0 Ross County).

I'm not saying he should be starting because it's clear he's not the mould of player Ronny is looking for in that position. However, he has worked extremely hard this season (he has shed a stone that Id say most of us didn't know he had to lose) and plays his part whenever he has to. He seems happy to be plugging away trying to win back his position(s) to me to be honest. If he's unhappy he can go with my best wishes.

In our cup games when we couldn't play GMS or Armstrong, Stokes stepped up to the plate big time and delivered a man of the match performance in the eyes of most in the League Cup Final in the process.

I think people who want him to go are honestly clouded by thought that Stokes is just that one dimensional striker we bought for a million or so from Hibs. He has developed into much more than that and I think a lot of you refuse to admit that for whatever reason.

Simple - to bring in a player of his own to replace a squad member he inherited.

he never inherited armstrong but, so if stokes is replaced by another winger like you said, then both signings made by ronny would be in direct competion.

:50: cool. Choose £1.5million as a minimum that still gives profit.

:50: Stokes saved the first half of this season for us, people tend to forget that.
