Great to see Stokes back on the score sheet. He has been playing well despite the lack of goals recently. But he is a striker so getting back amoung the goals will hopefully give him a confidence boost and see him go on a run of goals now.

Very disappointed in his lack of goals but his overall play has been outstanding in Europe and in Scotland. I like him and Commons close together on the pitch

Him and Commons seem to developing the kind of understanding that Stokes and Hooper had. Stokes for me is one the most underrated players we have ever had.

This. It drives me * mental tbh :56:

Seems to be getting a bit more credit this season but there are still some who don't see how much he offers to the team

My favourite player since Henrik. Could quite easily have left when he always got dropped for the big games

More goals will come, but for the moment he's doing a fantastic and more importantly, selfless job up front where he has to a lot of work for the team.

He's good and I like him, but I felt a bit short-changed by him in the CL this year. I really thought if given the chance he would take it. Maybe it was just the lack of a strike partner that hindered him, but I can't see us moving to 2 up top in Europe anytime soon, not 2 out and out strikers.

Wasn't the lack of a striker partner, lack of support and good service. Our composure for the final ball was awful. Everything he done in the Champions League this year he had to do on his own - hitting the bar against Milan, putting Zapata on his * through his skill and shooting against Milan, winning the penalty against Ajax....

We just never supplied him with anything decent.

its not just the final ball that has no composure, everyhting in the final third has been like that. It seems like when we have half a chance our players get a rush of blood and * it up :52:

If stokes keeps up the less greediness he could be a great attacking midfield player, plays great in the hole

I can really see Celtic regretting renewing his contract soon.

Averaging a goal every 198 minutes in the Scottish Premiership and a goal every 336 minutes in all competitions.

    27 appearances, 22 starts, 6 goals, 6 assists.

Just not good enough to be a Celtic main striker.

I think they'll be more fhan happy his contract was renewed.

Going by your statistics, it would appear that Stokes was directly involved in a goal being scored bg Celtic - considering an assist is as good as a goal - so, that would see him being invol ed in 12 goals in 27 of his last games. ....a little under a goal every two games.

He's our no.1 forward at the moment.

Top of the league as well btw.......

Someone needs to come in and take the pressure of him...I like Stokes but he's not a main striker.... There was a few points in the game today where he was outside the box when izzy put some worldy crosses in

I think Hooper leaving has had more of an adverse affect on Stokes than we may have thought. We all knew they had a terrific partnership, but I think it's only now that we're realising just how important Hooper was to Stokesy's game. In their first couple of seasons, Stokes pushed Hooper all the way in the goalscoring charts, and may well have beaten him had Hooper not played more regularly. Stokes just doesn't look as dangerous now, doesn't look as likely to get into those goalscoring positions. He needs a proper poacher to play alongside so that he can link up play and get himself into those pockets of space, and he isn't getting that from Commons, Sammy or Pukki.

He's good enough to be a second striker at the club but he's never going to be the main man in the way that Larsson, McDonald and Hooper have been this century.

We still need a poacher in January.

He shows in every game that he is a class player but overall his last games were poor(except the motherwell game).

Those are still * stats for a Celtic main striker. If that's how you put it then Commons has been involved in 19 goals in 26 games (according to Wikipedia). 5 assists and 14 goals, much better than stokes.

As previously said, seems to play better in the hole, if we sign a poacher next month would like to see both him and Commons behind him.
