Anthony Stokes

It's * Tony Stokes not Maradona. He played 38 games last season, folk moaned about him being in the team and then folk argued how gave plenty of assists etc. He's not a winger and he obviously hasn't done enough to show he deserves game time this season.
He's also then came to the conclusion he needs to knuckle down and is willing to go out and prove he can do this by going out on loan.

It's not rocket science and has just been blown out of proportion by folk that froth at the mouth at whatever choice Ronny and the club make.

 

And then this is your opinion, he's spot on in my opinion.

Stokes never was a pacey player and that was made abundently true when he got shifted to the wing. We play with 1 up front and he isn't a lone striker, Johansen was playing excellent in CAM & Armstrong and GMS came in.
He went down the pecking order though still got games, he obviously didn't apply himself well enough in pre-season and slipped further down to rare appearances on the bench.

He should of worked his * off when more competition came into the team.

 

He got injured and then came back late from Dublin. Never got a look in after that.

 

Don't see him coming back,

Not to fussed as long as the majority of his wage is covered can see him ending up in league 2 down south fading away.

 

If Stokes was starting people would be moaning about him keeping McGregor, Armstrong, Commons etc out the team

 

that isn't my opinion at all, that is the only facts we know up until now, everything else is just conjecture.

Armstrong and GMS came and tore it up and fully merited their place at the tail end of last season but neither have done a thing this season. Rogic isn't the quickest, neither is armstrong on the wing really.

he has proved imo anyway, to be the best option we have on the LW. Believe me I wish that wasn't the case because he isn't a left winger.

It just proves how poor we are on that side of the pitch though.

If we loan out Stokes and don't buy someone for the LW in this window then everyone involved in the purchasing of players for this club need their baws toed.

Nobody is asking for Griffiths to be replaced because he is doing the business. People on the LW aren't and that's why Stokes should get a chance.

This is a disgrace. I hate Deila I really do. He has crossed the line and is harming the club.

 

I don't think so. This not a straight forward case by any means, it has more twists and turns than an Agatha Christie novel.

But I have a funny feeling Stokes will still be at this club, long after Deila is gone.

 

I agree Stokes should have been given a chance this season because as you say GMS, Armstrong and Commons haven't been that impressive

I hope he goes away on loan and does the business playing as a striker

I can't see him coming back. this isn't a Henderson or McGregor going on loan, this is an established Celtic player who has won titles and played in Europe.

That is a death knell for a Celtic career. I can't see Stokes' pride allowing him to come back here now, unless there is a change of manager.

 

Yeah it's very rare you hear of 27 year old's going out on loan and returning to the 1st team

 

Just on the news there, 3 English clubs in for him as well. MK Dons, Rotherham and someone else.

GMS fell away very quickly this season but he was excellent pre-season and many thought he would be a key player he hardly gets a look in now either, Armstrong I think Ronny trusted him too much but he is fast when he gets in his stride but looked better playing in the middle.

He was good at times on the wing Stokes but don't think he's our best option, to be honest we don't have a best option they all have good and bad aspects playing on the wing that no one has stood out this season.

No matter what is going on with Stokes we need a winger with quality and consistency that could hopefully step up in Europe.
No point playing players not comfortable or natural on the wing who can do it domestically but struggle big time in Europe.

 

Bolton are close to going bust, but I'm guessing we are willing to continue paying a large part of Stokes wages if we agreed deals with Hibs, Caley and United.

 

Any body think Stokes going on Loan could be paving the way for Jason Cummings?
