Dundee Utd have been a dirty crowd of thugs long before J Mac took over . Remember when Dougie told Lennon lies , well I distinctly remember how dirty they were that night .
On the other hand i read a Partick Thistle fan bemoaning the dirty football that Jackie Mac had Thiste players playing when he was the manager .

Just wanted to say, with Paul Paton going on trial for the Zaluska incident a lot of our tackles in the few games against DU make a lot more sense now...

Was really disappointed when Stokes seemed to just smash Paton into the ground for no reason. Now not so much :celt_2:

Always find it amusing people try and take the pish out of him for setting up goals :56:

You put the ball in for a last minute winner, you absolute dirtbag!

He once again proved he cannot play up top in this current system, it has to be a two for him, which ain't going to happen under Ronny.

Nobody feeds a no9 better than Stokes. I only remember him playing well once up top on his own against that French side a few years ago. Still he is a clever player and absolutely usefull. What a surprise Mark1975 delighted at a poor performance of one of our players.

He was quite isolated last night. He is so much better when he gets close to his team-mates and plays those quick little passes. He's a much better footballer than a lot of people on here would like to give him credit for, and he is so unselfish - one of the big reasons Commons scored to many goals last year.

He'll never be the main man to rely on for goals, but he'll chip in with a good amount of goals and assists over the course of the season.

He's not a lone striker. Everybody knows that.

Not long-term, no. But he can play there in the right circumstances.

The problem last night was the lack of people going beyond him. It was loads better in the second half when people around him were making runs in behind. He was flicking it round the corner for Johansen, he was pulling wide to link with Izaguirre and he dropping deep to collect the ball and picking out the runs of Mackay-Steven.

Why did Stokes play ahead of Griffiths and Guidetti last night?

Apart from Ronny it seems... would like to know the logic behind starting him as a lone striker last night. Stokes is great at creating chances for others. Partner him up.

Does it 'seem' though? He started him there once against the bottom side in the League.

He has played Guidetti and Griffiths there every other time.

Normally the sort of opposition he'd scored 2 or 3 against when playing upfront and everybody starts loving him again, didn't do much at all.

I imagine Stokes wants to play through the middle and he's been showing up well in training so Ronny gave him a chance to prove his worth there.
